I brought the wurth for my wind shield, the entire bottle needs to be mixed in 4-5 litres of water before pouring into the tank. I see stains on the glass after using it, it cost somewhere around 85/- rupees.

Btw there is a getz crde (2k run) for sale on carwale.com for bangalore location, I have seen this car under brraj's garage.

Bangy-Chennai-Pondy-Bangy

I had to attend an ex-collegues wedding in chennai on Wednesday. Me along with 3 friends decided to drive down for this. Had a great time driving from bangy to Chennai, Chennai-Pondy and Pondy-bangalore over the past two days. Total trip kms 791. 4 guys in car, including me and 4 bags and some more items, all fitted into the boot. Space in this car is amazing as we could fit in everything into the boot with only 2 water bottles inside the car.

Bangy-Chennai drive took just 3.5 hrs of running time. Top speed touched 190 kmph (on speedo), mostly driving at 140-150 kmph range. After the wedding, we drove down to Pondy. I filled fuel again at Pondy. Mileage was only 13.83 kmpl , which includes the Bangy-chennai trip, a bit of driving inside chennai city (peak hour) and a chennai-Pondy drive. It seems like spirited driving took its toll on mileage. This is the worst mileage I've got in this car. The previous worst was 16kmpl in Bangalore city.

Return was through Pondy-Thindivanam- Thiruvanamalai- Krishnagiri- Bangalore route (fully night driving). Osrams did it's job well, but there was no escaping the headlights of the trucks and buses. Only 2-3 of them dimmed their headlights for me. It was a 2 lane highway till Krishnagiri with Ok roads with lot of uneven patches and unexpected potholes. Distance of 300 odd kms covered in 6 hrs with 45 mins break for dinner. Yet to check mileage for that return leg as I’ve not filled full tank. I think it will be more as I was driving in 80-100 kmph range.

Some points on the Getz from this drive.

1) Getz Crdi engine is just superb as all knows by now. The engine pulls effortlessly.
2) On the turns, Getz is plain scary. It shows a reluctance to turn. It starts bobbing around and skidding when smooth curves are taken at 140+ speeds (Bangy-chennai highway). I think it has a lot to do with my tyres as well. I run on Michelin XM1+ and I don't think they can handle such speeds.
3) Brakes in Getz are inadequate for the speeds this car attains. I have to brake early to slow down in traffic situations. In comparison a linea guy, who was trying to overtake me could brake very late and the car slowed down well. He overtook me a lot of times at these situations. His was a dynamic version and doesn’t have ABS.
4) Getz is super comfy. The 3 guys were never tired and slept in peace even in the bad roads that we were returning on. It dismisses potholes and rough patches with ease. Occupants are protected from these roads.
5) Noise insulation is superb. Even at 140 kmph, there was no noise inside car, except the music which was being played at Vol 8-10. In Zen I used to play music at same setting at 18-23 during highway runs.
6) AC is superb. Even at noon in Chennai, I never put AC above level 2. Rear passengers complained of too much cold and we reduced it to level 1 and sometimes reduced the temp level.

Some pics

Note- I hardly took any pics of my car and most of them are people pics with scenaries in background.

1. Yes the engine is a powerplant.

2. i haven't turned at 100+ yet in the getz but yes the super soft suspension and the heavy front i'm sure will play havoc with the dynamics.

3. Brakes i think are 'Ok' but the 'feel' factor isn't there, the car doesn't want to stop. The petrol getz is pretty 'normal' in this. But with the cRDI, it feels that the car just doesn't wanna stop

4. 5. 6. - DITTO !

Time for second service.... 8000 kms done.. 6 months

Its time for my second service. The kms covered has been just 8000 but timewise it'll be 6 months in 2 days.

The experience has been great with the car. It doesn't show any need for service, so I think this will just be a normal service with oil change. I'll have to wait and see how it behaves after service to see if there was anything wrong till now.

Any pointers on what I should take care of and what not to take from hyundai?

They usually do not change the fuel filter (as recommended by the manual), and tell you that it is good till 20k - I recommend that you specify and have it changed.

6 months .. 8143 kms... 2nd service

Given my car to Trident Hyundai for the second free service. Estimated cost is Rs 3800/-. Will know the actual cost when I go to take it.

The car has mostly done only highway runs. Maybe 1000kms would have been done in city.

Minor irritants and things that I've noticed
-----------------------------------------

1) Water seeped in front footwell when it rained. There was no rise in water level outside.

2) Minor rattling at idling from front left speaker area.

3) Rattling of inner rear view mirror between 1300-1600 rpm.

4) Rear right door beading used to come out initially. Not seen in past few months, but notified to service advisor

5) Poor brakes. have asked them to see if anything can be done. No hopes though.

6) Low mileage in last run. Just 12.8kmpl when I mostly drove in 130-150kmph range and touched a top speed of 190kmph on Bangalore-Hyd highway. Hopefully it was an abberation.

Other than these.. the car has been an absolute beauty and at the range that I usually drive in (100-140kmph) on highways, the car has been absolutely stable and gave mileage of around 17kmpl. Except for last run, in city it gives a consistent 16kmpl.

Overtaking is a breeze and long drives are a pleasure because of the excellent noise insulation in the car. I prefer a very quiet vehicle and the car has kept me more than happy. Now any other car feels underpowered and unexciting. (2 exceptions - Cruze and Captiva.. loved them and most probably I might buy a Chevy next. Optra just about matches Getz. Never driven an elantra)

Phoenix- I have asked them to replace everything that is to be replaced including fuel filter. I just hope they do it. Thanks for your suggestion

Ramsagar- Alloys is a thing that I'm seriously considering, but not now. I spent a lot of money on cameras and would like to wait for this. Most probably I will do it only after this set of tyres wears out. I think it'll take a lot of kms as at 8143kms, the tyres look as good as new.

Will take some interior pics in this weekend probably. There's nothing fancy in my interiors. Still contemplating the use of seat covers

Got the car back from service. Total Bill came to Rs 2674/- and horror.... they didn't change the fuel filter.

The service advisor asked me to come back at 10k kms and get it changed. I was about to argue that the service is meant to be a 10k service, but then i saw... MY CAR SEATS WERE ALL STAINED!!!

There were black marks all over the rear seats, rear parcel tray, driver's seat and armrest area. I got mad about this and asked them to get it cleaned.

Finally they did interior shampooing and cleaned up everything. I need to check it all up tmrw morning and see if its done properly.

The car was supposed to be delivered at 3:30 pm and I finally got it only by 5:30. Till 5 they hadn't finished work on my car.. I dont know what takes so much time. Never faced this either with Maruti/Ford (I had a Zen before and a Fiesta now).

Overall service experience was a dampener. I would rate service exp as

Maruti > Ford > Hyundai.

The service center across is a pain- they are overloaded and callous. I have experienced a few issues and now do not go to them. They are bringing hyundai a bad name. Try Jakksandra- a little far but pick up and drop available. I know the service manager there- they have less load and can pay proper attention. Can personally share more !- walk across to my cube tomorrow

I guess it is Hyundai's bane - in Madras, a few BHPians along with me have very good experiences with KUN Hyundai service, while HMP and DSC happen to be pretty bad at times.

@Krish - look for other Hyundai service centers, especially ones where people known to you have good experiences, and knows a service manager (like what @mkh has recommended).
