Guys/ Gals, (Dont wanna be biased !)

To Start with if you want to know my experience with my car after 65k & 3 yrs ownership in few word

" EXTREMELY SATISFIED"

I may sound a bit over but that is how it is. I bought my car in July 2006 & this was my second car (first being Esteem Vx). I had huge expectation as the reasons why i bought Scorpio were obvious

1. Diesel run (far cheaper the Esteem)
2. SUV (in Indian affordable condition)
3 Value for Money (As Safari VLX 12.5 & VTT was not launched)
4. Best in Power & Pickup at that time
5. Huge reputatiuin of Mahindra Diesel enginers (as my father had them since 1988)

I drove my beast to almost all terrains (65000 kms in 3 years justify that),
All of North India is covered with me & my family in this car including 5-6 trips to Kashimir, drove Non Stop 1200 kms (Pahalgam - Newdelhi) in little less then 22hours. Drove it through the heart of Punjab, Himachal, Rajasthan & UP. Drove it on hills, valleys, deserted plains, flooded mudpaths. Drove it on roads , no roads, mudways & even where rest cars wont go (Shakumbhari near Sharanpur, need to travel 1.5 km upstream in a rainy rivulet).Even removed the back seat (both rows) & iused in as a mini van on a long trip for 7-8 days. lol:

My car is still under extended warranty by mahindra.
Only expenses occured except for regular services & extended warranty was seat covers which I got done.
Replacements (under Warranty)
1. Turbo Hose pipe gone bust
2. Right rear shocker (leaked)
3. Power Window Switch malfuntion

Mileage has always between 10-13

Pros:
Driving gets new definition
very stable at 100-120
Very sturdy engine
Nice pickup & power

Cons

Music system installed by mahindra is just Basic
Rear ground mounted AC is not very effective, so recommend roof mounted vents.

Please let me know if you have any querries, will be glad to answer.

wow thats an extremely crisp report, why don't you add in some pictures of your ride as well.

" Rear ground Mounted AC is not very effective " could you elaborate ?

Thanks for the compliments!!!

Certainly will add some pics soon!

In Scorpio the rear AC vent is not mounted on roof like Innova, it is based near foot of the second seat middle passenger & hence when the car is full as well as it is typical North Indian Summer (48 + degrees) you feel hot at the back seat.

However can get a roof mount done for 10-12k externally ( I am planning it this year)

hi buddy, very short & precise review. we will appreciate if you can share some pics.

Hi Sam, Nice Mini Review. Do add some pics. Even i visited Shakumbri last year in my Scorp, but unfortunately there was no stream to sail through that time. It was a plain river bed and even small hatches carried on without any difficulty.

Will surely post pics.!!!

However go in rainy season & the dry river bed become a guzzling water flow where only buses dare to go!!

SO was it easy for the Scorp to make it through, How deep was it ? Mine is 2.4 years old and clocked 31k but i have not got any opportunity to test it in waters.

The depth is not the main concern though it is one like 3/4 tyre deep, but the strongness of current is one concern as it is steep downhill flow of water...

Was trying to post pics , but could not find the right way, but finally got thru :). Hope it will work from now on!!!

Pic 1 & Pic 2 are from Karoli in Rajasthan

Pic3 is from Somewhere between Kangra & Mandi in Himachal.

All of these pics are either on way to Kashmir or taken in Kashmir, Pics 2,3 & 4 are taken in Gulmarg during first snowfall.

Pic4 shows a military truck which skidded off due to snow & we were able to capture it while driving past it from the window.

Lovely pics and well maintained seeing 65000 KM and 3 years.

Does this roof mount include a separate coil for rear or just vents ?

Thanks a lot dear!!!

Roof mount does not have coils but effectiveness of AC is very very high as it was never required to drive Scorpio on High AC. So fan should be enough.:)

Hey Sam,

That is one crisp report! Short and to the point!

Can we have some of the travelogues from your side, since it does seem that you had done a lot of traveling with your ride. And please do post few more photos.

Snow seems to be the theme now a days!
