But again if fuel efficiency is an issue then the wagon r would be a slightly better option as you could manage atleast a km more out ofeach liter of petrol.
But if you're running is on the lower side then stick on to the Ikon.
Glad that a read through the review help you make a wise decision

manson.
A km less than wagonr ... that sounds unbelievable Fuel efficiency to me.

I am saying this because my uncle got fed up of his Ikon flair 1.3, which was giving him 8~10kmpl .. and instead bought an Accent, which according to him gives better FE than the Ikon 1.3.

Anyway, i dont own an Ikon. Maybe you are right.... but then again, why we see so many of top end Santros and WagonRs on road, when Ikon 1.3 gives just "a km less" ?

Neither. In the context that this mileage is mentioned, it is very much possible. Think about it - highway, 5th gear, not crossing 2800 rpm - all contributing to that 17 kpl.

The old IKON 1.3 has got very low FE. I believe it's called CLxi or something. Is it the one your having? The Flair's better than this one.

i'm assuming a wagon r tends to run about 10-11 kmpl (based on a zen mpfi i owned), and the ikon gives around the 9 mark. if not 1 then make that kmph, yet the ikon seems like a better package if your car does less than 10-12 k a year, as you tend to barely save anything with running an extra km each litre of fuel in a year. And look at the brighter side, you get a boot and a whole lot of other stuff, not to forget upgrading a whole segment altogether.

And i have owned an accent (the ikon is a replecement for the same), it runs 9 kmpl, maybe me 0.5 here or there.

The other car in my family which happens to be 1.3L Rocam Nxt churns out 10-11 in city but not sure about the older 1.3 versions which were push rod type. the 1.3L Rocam has only K&N filter conical at intake rest its totally stock engine.

My Ikon Flair gives 12 kms and 17 kms in the city and on the highways respectively. This is all inclusive of 80% AC driving. Have put a stock K&N replacement filter and rest everything is stock. Personally I feel that the Flair is a very balanced car in terms of decent fuel effiiciency and performance. Am a happy customer ...

Cheers,
AJ

I agree with the views posted above reg the Ikon FLair. Mine is 1400 kms old, drive it in Bangalore, feed it with Shell regular petrol, keep the RPMs below the 2500 mark, and it returns 13.2 (apprx) kmpl in city, with 75% A/C.

@danlalan I too have experienced the older ikon 1.6 giving about 6-7 kmpl and that is why the figures look a little on the higher side.

Ps: If these figures[12-13kmpl for ikon] are correct the fords engine is as good if not better than hondas in terms of FE.

when you say honda's do you mean the ohc...or the ohc/at....well i doubt the honda's FE is as bad as the ikon1.6....know a lot of ohc owners and they claim 9-10kmpl

I am not saying FE of honda is bad[they are the benchmark].I am saying if ford gives 12-13 kmpl then it equals the NHC also.

@ rahul_intlad

I had mentioned in my post above, reg the figures my ikon Flair was giving me. All its requires is no ripping, and easy with the accelarator pedal.
Ofcourse, city mileage figures dont mean that u crawl in traffic all day with the A/C running, and expect 12-13 kmpl....!!
