Hi Raj!!
My answers are in block below

1. On switching on the AC i get a strange dusty/musty kind of smell. This is even if have the AC running for a few hours and then I switch it off and then on after 20 min. The same problem is more noticable if i just use the blower initially and then switch on the AC. Got the A/c filter cleaned and air hosed the inlet but to no avail.

This happens in my Aveo as well, but only if the switch is set to in cabin circulation for a long time. I usually after every 30 minutes switch on fresh air for a couple of minutes and that solves the problem.

2. My second problem is that when i go from low to high RPM than at around 1700-1800 RPM i hear a rattling noise coming from the engine. It sounds like the gears are slipping or something. This problem occurs irrespective of which gear i am. When i showed it at the indore service center(10000 servicing), the opened the top cover of the engine, the spark plugs and the fuel line and finally declared that it was due to adulterated petrol. Is it possible?

Never felt that problem, or never felt that the gears are slipping, so cant comment on that

3. I do sometimes one of the seatbelts squeaking, but it is quite rare.

In the 10K service the guys tightened up the seat belt and the noise has dissappeared

Thanks for the reply deky.

Tried that for the A/c, but didn't work. And strangely the service centre guys say that to avoid the smell i must keep the A/c in recirculate mode 'always'.

Any other aveo owners??

aveo 19000kms

Hi deky

recently done my 4th servicing 19000kms (1.5 years), actually should have been done at 20k but few problem led me to give the car bit early.

1) noise from the engine kat-kat sound during the cold start and it was so loud that even my wife use to hear it from the first floor of my residence. i told her yeah i have converted my car into diesel. .

2) suspension noise, when taking over a speed braker, in the last the service also i told the same problem,

3) driver seat -- i think i need to change it , i think "itwasntme" also had some problem with the driver seat

4) did the wheel rotation.

FE : in city it gives around 11km/l and in highway its around 15 km/l . i occasionaly take my car above 100km/hr otherwise it will be in 80 to 90 km/hr speed.

i have driven this car to 500km in one stretch , i will say it is really comfortable and you dont feel that tired again it depends upon the driver itself.

my dream run will be to take the car from mysore to bhubaneswar, which my wife is not letting me to do it .

Hi Mjothi,

let me try to explain you : its like the mattress the place you sleep will go down and rest of areas remains the same . hope you are getting it. my driver seat has become like that, which is causing me leg pain in long drives.

Probably it might be one of issue not a common problem in aveo , my wife says you are too fat thats why the seat has become like this ....

Just got my car back from 15k service. usually i go to the A.S.S myself give the car and get it picked myself. But this time I decided to use the pick and drop from home, offered as part of the Cashless Ownership package. Did this as I wanted to see if the after sales guys relax if the owner isnt present.

The driver came to collect the car and had a checklist with him. On the checklist I had mentioned the following points that had to be looked into.
a. oil change and filter change:- standard service mentioned in the manual
b. proper cleaning from inside and outside as during these summer months lots of fine dust particles accumulate
c. proper vacuuming of the space between the door and the body (the place where the rain water that falls on the wind shield drains from) as in that cleavage lots of dried leaves fallen on the car had started collecting.
d. some soft rattling that comes from the dashboard where the bonnet lever is. This rattling is only there when the road is really really bad.
e. Tyre rotation and wheel balancing to be done.

When the car reached Triumph Motors service station I got a call from the executive confirming all the details and the list of the problems. Apart from the list I had given I also told him to ask a senior mechanic to test drive the car and check if there is anything else required with the car that I might have missed.

Following is the details of work done as shown in the VAT - Cash Bill

1. Strut A-Front LH 1 Rs. 1187.67/-
2. Strut A- Front RH 1 Rs. 1200.00/-
3. Filter A-Oil Eng 1 Rs. 66.96/-
4. Filter Oil 15W40 3.75 Rs. 186.67/-
5. Weight Balance25gms 2 Rs. 26.43/-
6. Weight Balance30gms 2 Rs. 28.19/-

Labour and Job work Rs. 510/-

Total Payable Rs. 0/- (part of cashless ownership.

The cleaning part done was pretty good, the car came back nice cleaned and waxed and the interiors well polished (the dash)

I didnt mention about the struts ( till I read the bill I didnt know that what were struts, had to google it) but strut support was also replaced. I called them to check why were they replaced, so they mentioned that during the test drive the mechanic felt some noise was coming so they decided to replace them. I hope there is nothing bad that they did, Guru's can advise.

The car is just about 8 months old and I have been pretty happy with the car. The mileage in the city is 12.5+ with ac on all the time. Highway is around 15.

2 days back a mishap happened while the car was parked. I presume a motorcycle fell on the bonnet of the car so the grill chrome is broken the bonnet has lost its shape a bit, the front fender has major scratches and the number plate is broken too.

I have dented the bonnet myslef and bought it back to shape, and will be replacing the number plate soon. Apart from that I do not tend to change the fender as of now.

Regards

I can understand how it hurts. If its too bad a sight to see every day, better change using the Insurance. Did you checked how much it may cost?

If you are not driving on bad roads why should struts need replacing in 15k??!!
While it is good that they replaced it and you are in cashless package but this sort of life for item which should normally run for minimum of 40k kms

Good to know that it's a minor one.

Bangalore GM service guys are not upto the mark on cleaning work. BTW, they haven't charge anything for waxing? Is that also comes under cashless ownership?

Agreed. But the service camp we had, it was quite different. it was cleaned excellently. May be things are changing or they just wanted to show they are changing.

With these kind of reassuring posts from mjothi and others, I too feel like going for Aveo. I TD'd it an year back and interiors are pretty good compared to others. I am also not a Michale Schumacher and hence an Aveo would do it seems. Reception in one of the new showrooms in Bangalore was excellent too. But pricewise it is expensive compared to Fiesta. For a Fiesta Zxi with ABS, I have a quote of 7.1 L on road whereas Aveo 1.4 is 7.6 L onroad.

yeah, bit a difficult decision to take. Now one more option also.
Even before purchasing my Aveo, Fiesta was also in my mind and did TD on that also, drivabilty wise l like Fiesta than Aveo. And 1.4 base models, prices were also similar.
But i was afraid of ford *** and their spare prices and as a total package Aveo was suited for my requirement.

Oh, is it for the Airbag & ABS version? I mean the 1.4 LT version? Its fully loaded version with alloys, leather seats etc.

Does it including the 3 yrs cashless ownership?

Btw. I think Fieta ZXi does not come with Airbag? Right?

Sorry, Deky, we took your ownership to different direction.

I have got 3 services + 2 check ups done and I have not been charged a penny so far. Last service included a part worth rs 2400/- that was changed without a fuss. So I guess it speaks volumes for dealer.

Last time when I went to pick the car myself after the service the Owner himself was inspecting my car to see if all was in order. That was quite reassuring as well.
