The pressure regulating valve controls the return fuel(which opens up if the pressure sensor detects more pressure than required) from the common rail as I had suggested earlier, did they change the valve or only the return line ??.

The PR valve must have been renewed. Just the pipeline would be a bit much!
How can just a pipe make the difference, unless it has a hole?!

Rail Pressure Senor error confirmed on my ride

TSK,

Went to concorde motors today and showed them the warning light (80kph / 2500rpm test ).

connected the OBD scan laptop and it showed the P1258 Rail Pressure Sensor. High Fuel Low something" error. Asked them to clear all the errors and test.

Initially they cleaned the sedimenter and showed me a kinley bottle full of green liquid with some sediment at the bottom. Thereafter they took a test ride and confirmed that the problem is still there and that they're seeing it on another TD car as well.

Waiting for them to clean all fuel lines, filter, and revert. Have asked them to check the recirculating fuel line as well as the Pressure Regulator valve as per your posts today.

buddy better get the error codes checked out yourself.
if its a Sporadic error. then there is something getting wrong but has been rectfied once afterrun is over!( you will eventually end up in trouble!! ) but if its static fault. then Rail Pressure Sensor is in trouble.( was the sensor tested?? ) then there is the expected fault code! this is an indication that these components are experiencing wrong readings due to fault in some other components. i dont think Diaggra SW is used . if thats used. then
all BLACK status message shows checked path! - all ok
RED shows static error. - trouble!!
BLUE shows sporadic error. ( some error readings happen but are gettin rectified while driving cycle or by afterr run. ) these will become static errors if not attended to.
GREEN shows expected fault codes. these get set not due to fault in the said component but due to a component related to the said component.
hope this helps

The horse has recovered currently in observation

Finally after months of the horse seems to be alive and kicking.
Service light has gone forever.
However, the lead mechanic told me that they suspect fuel recirculation line, but cannot be sure, since on his insistence, everything related to fuel delivery system was changed. The diesel filters were spic and span, so did not require replacement. No clogging etc.,

So here is the list of parts which were changed
1. Common Rail
2. Fuel Pump
3. Injectors
4. High Pressure lines
5. Fuel recirculation line
6. EGR rubber hose thingy(its some 35rs or something)
7. Some misc lines, and pipes(basically everything related to common rail)

At first with just fuel pump change, the service light did not come in 4th and 5th gear, but when he took her to 80 in second gear, error code used to prop up.
Next they changed the common rail and fuel recirculation line. With that changed, after 50kms extended TD, no more service light issue.

They have told me to observe the vehicle for the next 1000kms or so, but do not expect any more service light issues.

I am glad that finally I have my steed back! Sangla here I come

PS: @smsrini, ask them to get TML/Lucas engineers, all this sensor cleaning will not help now, your truck is under warranty, ask them to change whatever is suspect

Great to see the issue sorted out! Lets hope its stays this way and the horse does not go back to intensive care!

Did you have to pay anything in all this drama? Who bears the diesel cost for the extended TDs?

Along with a detailed travelogue!

Yes, so far he didn't get an opportunity to test the skills of his smashing beast in the hilly terrains (apart from a small trip to Dalhousie)

Tsk! wish you a happy journey & many kms of joyful & untroubled rides on your Galloping Horse.

Thanks guys. I did not have to pay anything, but the actual bill of materials was 50K+
As for the cab fares I will directly get them from TML. I have submitted the bills of the cab to the service adviser.
As for the fuel for extended TDs, well its called collateral!

As for me I am happy that finally the issues are over, and I can look forward to the trip without worries!
