Yeah, i guess supplier is same for 4x4 systems. But, i guess TATA gets its common rail system(injectors, etc) from Delphi and M&M gets it from BOSCH.

I am currently in touch with the workshop for the replacement. Unfortunately Lucas is out of injectors. There are lots of safari's waiting in line for this replacement(this has apparently affected many other safaris too), but mine is No.1 on the waiting list.
So it should be done most probably by next saturday, i.e. 28 February

Pity.

Am I correct that they make injectors in batch production mode?

Man! I really wish you and the horse start spending quality time together SOON. These hospital visits are starting to consume too much time now.

Well the horse is with me. It will go for change only when part arrives. You know what I hope. That after this change the service light does not come on again!

Hang in there Tanveer, I am sure the Safari will be burning tarmac real soon.

Yeah, I was hoping to see another title "EDIT" when Tanveer got back - like my recuperating horse or my rejuvenated horse but alas! No such luck.......

Tanveer, been reading this forum since you started it and almost whenever I login, its your forum among others (its one of the saved tabs in Mozilla always)!

I feel your safari is a one of case with so many issues. I am a big Safari fan. Specially the pearl white 2.2 Dicor 4x4. Am planning to get it in 3 months or so.

One Plain Simple Question

Do you suggest I should buy one?

My plain simple answer would be no. Till date I have never been stranded on the roadside with overheating engine in a vehicle barely done 10K kms. Even my indica had first breakdown issue way after 50k kms.
So I really don't know whats the quality control Tata is doing. And if mine was an isolated case it would be understandable, but we have smsrini's 2.2 giving the service light, and for injectors etc., there are many other safari's waiting for replacement parts from Lucas. In such a batch failure, Tata should be breathing down on Lucas neck to get the parts to the service centers ASAP, but it appears thats not the case, and Lucas is taking own sweet time.
When I went to US, I asked my service center to get the parts so that I come back and get the retro. Its been a month, and they are still awaiting parts from Lucas Chennai!
Hopefully it will be done this weekend.

So if you really want a 4x4 and cannot afford the 11L price tag of mHawk 2.2 4x4, buy this, but if you have got more money to spare, or can wait till you have met the budget constraints, buy the competition

It is sad to know of the issues Tanveer. It seems the 3.0 litre Dicors had most of their bugs ironed out. My 3.0 is performing quite well at 25000kms, apart from a couple of blown fuses and brake disc warping (which has been fixed).

Thankfully, in Mumbai we have a workshop that TML owns, so there are no problems with servicing. Are there no such workshops in NCR?

I believe that Tata will figure out the 2.2 bugs soon and reliability should be better in the coming months.

To be frank I have no issues with Autolinks. Whenever I have approached them with a problem, their technicians have always been able to replicate the issue, and recommend part change. The problem is TML Lucas etc.,

It is funny, because here parts are mostly in stock. I wouldn't know about the injectors and rails though, but considering what I've seen, it shouldn't be too hard to procure. But is there a TML workshop in your area?
