Its its chimta. It can be faced upto 2mm without any problems in structural strength, as this area which is faced does not bear the full load.
This is the only way to fix camber if you run out of shims to remove

Safari has two wishbones. Upper wishbone and lower wishbone. Chimta is local-speak for Wishbone. So safari has upper chimta and lower chimta. I have no idea about cost, must be less than 800 odd though.

Wishbone is part of the suspension. 'Chimta' is desi word for fork, the component that connects handle to front wheel in a bike and thus is part of the steering mechanism. In a car, I believe by 'Chimta' the desi mechanics would be referring to tie rods. Experts, please correct me if I'm wrong!

I think, well, I have come back from the service center, lemme run for a while, and then I will update this thread.
Guess what, before I can update this thread, I go to the service center again.

So this time I have decided to update this thread one day after the service center visit.

As you recall, my earlier update happed at 256kms on the odo, with the new ODO.

After that fix session, we made a trip to Hemkunt Sahib and VOF.
On the way to Joshimath, the vehicle started overheating.

Reason was low level of water in coolant reservoir. Was there a leak or was there not?

So with 1600kms on the odo, we were at service center. No leak could be found. Probably an improperly fitted radiator cap? We won't know.
There were some other problems too, primarily with driving the vehicle in a straight like.
Tie rod and center link replacement fixed that. Since the car had run hot, I also decided to change coolant, and engine oil. Get a service done.

And then the power window on drivers side jammed up. Vehicle is out of warranty, and Tata has changed lifter design. Sent a mail to TML, and they agreed to give me goodwill warranty. 2600 saved there too!

Bill was 11682, and I was thankful. The vehicle is ready.

And then starting trouble started. Battery gone bad. cells weak. Got it replaced for 4200(after exchange).
And hold your horses.
The vehicle became a hummer. IT started humming, rather loudly.
Bearings gone.

Visited service center, and they discovered that the bearing is not in stock, so went again yesterday.

Vehicle was silent, I tested 4x4, engaging fine.
Came back to workshop, paid the bill(2500 for rhs bearing set). Started car. And 4H and 4L lights lit up and stayed on.

Yes, both 4H and 4L, on. I obviously panicked. However, the workshop guys(Autolinks are cool). Apparently this happens after pressure wash. Their management guys own safari 4x4, so these guys are expert. After an air blast, problem goes away. Things are engaging fine.

And we come home, in a completely fixed vehicle(hopefully). The head tech at Autolinks tells me "Lets hope we do not meet again soon".
And I seriously hope the same.

Time to replace the white elephant I woud presume. You can attach an hon Doctorate against your name. Phd in maintaining a Tata Safari. Cheers!!

I think excetionally blessed is the word. However, by replacing parts, I am slowly fixing things the proper way.
Intend to keep it for another 20-30000kms atleast

Think positive TSK you have got almost a new Safari barring body shell even after 4 years.
May be when you will sell after 30K KM next owner will get a fully debugged and stable safari and you will get good karma points.

Its not the first time. If you look at the page history, most of the pics are of the white elephant. And best of all, those shameless buggers do not even credit me for the pics
