@SS, No its a separate assembly mounted close to the fuel filter in the Safari.

@It doesn't make sense not to have the hand primer covered under warranty. It is not a wear and tear part. They should cover it.

Nope, its separate bulb like structure made of rubber or something

Tata defies logic. Hand primer is something which the car user never uses. Only the service center uses it after changing diesel filters.

4k for a rubber part, and it's not covered under warranty because it's rubber? How bad is the leak? Can you smell diesel inside the cabin (esp. since you report earlier about the cabin not being too airtight)?

Looking forward to hearing about TML's response to this, before you spend the 4k.

After the discount, the bill has come down from aorund 3400 to 2867.
It was the hand primer, and its not under warranty.
Now only one pending issue remains, but I am not sure if TATA can solve it.

I went to get the Alpine HU repaired(warranty repair) and they fixed one problem, CD not loading properly.
However, FM reception problem remains, and the guy there showed me that the Active antenna(behind the IRVM) is not getting 12V, thats why the reception is poor.

Most TASCs do not have ICE experts for the same. So I think I may need to get this done from outside or something?

Tanveer, I don't know specifically about the Safari but in most cases ICE guys at TASC are bad.

The ICE guy I went to in Gurgaon has a chela at Sanya Motors Def Col. He seems to be good and Sanya is also a TASC.

Tan, what a relief man! I fail to remember when last I saw this thread without a tail attached to its end. So it looks like you got a real wild bull elephant. But now that you seem to have tamed it afterall I have a feeling this one will serve you long. Anyhow most of the internals would have been debugged by now. In their efforts to solve this problem they probably touched everything from the spare wheel to the foot mat. haa haa haaaa. And of course you would have also earned a degree in Safari maintenance by now.

Come to think of it, it sounds like just yesterday when you were shouting at the HDFC bank nincompoops. And in just a blink your elephant has plodded over a distance of 35k!

Yup, it seems like yesterday. Infact, I think that she will be hitting 50K mark before the 2 years(and primary warranty) gets over!

At 31K I had spent close to 4K for bushes, not at 35K its 4000rs for hand primer. The white elephant is under warranty, and apart from regular services the cost/km is rupee to a km!, include regular service and its creeping upto to 2rs a km.

I don't know if anybody is keeping track like me of per km cost except suman. but his safari is almost 80K kms done
As of now, cost/km excluding tires stands at 0.59 paisa

I will again tabulate once I return from this Orissa forest tour this weekend and the kms should read something around 44 k kms around.

Whatever that expense comes out, will be definitely on the higher side of a normal 2wd as this VTT mostly encounters regularly irregular territories not fit for a 2wd. And when that is done, the vehicle damage is more than a 4wd - places where I used momentum across bad trails or heavy usage of brakes due to no crawl facility on steep slopes. As such the main expense of all that fun has been on the bushes , front bearings, and brake pads - both front and rear - thus along with the materials, there are good labour rates.

Plus as said before on that link, I change engine oil at 5000-5500 km voluntarily and air filter at 7500 km irrespective whether the band is red or not or the manual says.

@adc, unlike your vehicle, the charges my vehicle has undergone are totally unrelated to terrain. except for 3500 around 31000kms for the bushes.
Thankfully, brake pads, suspension etc., are holding on pretty fine.
I think at 45kms service, the brake pads may require a change, but then maybe not!
