That's precisely what I have been checking out on the Baleno. I try to stick to the highest possible gear (ofcourse without the "gear knocking" - not sure if that is the right term for it) and observed that the car is cool in 5th gear even when at a speed of 25kmph. A couple of times, I even went as low as 22.5kmpl without any knocking.
Ofcourse from what I hear from Blore & H'bad guys, looks like driving in Chennai is a pleasure compared to their cities. And we Chennaites were thinking that there can't be any city worse than Chennai.

Some people would sacrifice FE for stability and thats is wise.
Busa, I guess you are right. I guess I mistook the laden weight for the kerb weight.

And how exactly did you figure out this 22.5kmph? From speedo's marking?

I did not know there was another way to do that.
Would appreciate if you let me know.

Oh, ok, is that what all the smileys were about ?
OK, here's the rationale behind that. The speedo has a Least Count (L.C.) of 5kmph.
At the lowest speed in 5th gear, the needle was exactly between 20kmph and 25kmph, which would be the 22.5kmph mark. BTW, I am yet to see a car speedo with a L.C. of 1kmph (which would be required to get readings of 22, 23 kmph mentioned by you).
