Re: 'Sexy 4' | 2009 Maruti SX4 ZXi Review

Update on the Sexy Sx4. The car now features a new bodykit. I selected the front skirts, side skirts and a spoiler. The wheels are now gun metal grey and my the rear drums are painted black while the front discs are finished in silver. The car has been detailed by the same professional. Just a few photos now before I professionally take out my camera for a proper photoshoot. I avoided the rear skirts to prevent the car from looking like a box. Hence for the mud flaps and the spoiler give it a back lift appearance which gives a modern feel to the car.

I feel the car is ready for a TV commercial!

Update time!

Sexy 4 living by its name

Do note: You need to careful while driving the car as the front bumper is now more prone to scrapping on big speed breakers.

My car is looking all fancy till I noticed that I am running on bold tires. Frequent tire puncture, low tire pressure and road noise was prominent. I wasn’t confident driving the car fast (70km/hr max ) any longer. Previously I was running on Continental tires and after six years I am getting a new set of tires.

This time around I went ahead with Bridgestone Potenza 205/60 16inch. So I attended a JK tyre branch.

Car screaming out of excitement

Funny that JK tire outlet don’t recommend JK tyres. Had them when the car was new and had side wall cracks. Yikes!

Wheel balancing and alignment done right

Now the car feels perfect. The way it was meant to be. I also used Chemicalguys tyre dressing to give the wet look to the tires. I must say it’s a must have!

SX4 is one great car by Maruti that nobody would dare call it names. Too bad they don't make them like they used too. Feels good to see such a well maintained example.

Thank you for appreciating my care for the car. It’s funny how you quotes the exact lines from the SX4 TV commercial. “They don’t make men like they used to”, followed by “I have given up”
I’m not sure if that was intentional or just a coincidence.

Is the clutch pedal of the car hard? I have a 2007 model, we have changed the entire clutch system once, the clutch still remains very hard.

Nope. The clutch on my car is very soft and has a great bite point in the stop and go traffic. I had changed my clutch twice, the first due to the clutch plate burnt off and the second due to water logging.
I’m not sure what us causing your problem but I have driven several cars from that era such as swift and ritz and both suffer from that. It is due to mainly lack of proper maintenance.

Clutch on my Sx4 2011 is also definitely harder than few other cars I drove like Honda City etc. Even after replacing clutch, hardness remained.
It's not unmanageable but definitely painful enough for me to get convinced that all my future Cars are going to be automatic .

For reference I test drove Jeep compass MT yesterday and found clutch was equally hard.

I can totally relate to driving a car with a hard clutch. One of my relative’s second gen swift petrol has this hard clutch problem. Very stiff and unpredictable for it to bounce back. This destroys the fun of driving a manuel. Hyundai does a great job when it comes to softness of clutch. Makes every gear shift smooth as butter and I am referring to the Creta. I can’t say the same for a few grand i10s. I am interested to know what makes the car clutch go hard after a certain age in some cars.

Is the bodykit available aftermarket? I did ask around locally but none have it.
