Re: My Yellow Mitsubishi Cedia Sports | 13 year & 150,000 km ownership review

This is one car where the alloy wheel upgrade bug may never bite you

Agree, they don't make such sedans anymore and the Lancer in a (bold) shade like yellow will never cease to attract that second glance!

All the best for continual enjoyment of this well maintained and loved car.
Thank you so much and yes I completely agree with your thoughts about the design and the layout.

Apart from that, I really wish Mitsubishi got the sales it should have with cars like these. India rarely gets cars like the Cedia, and I'm glad to see loyal owners like you with these beauties. I've always been a fan of the Lancer; wish I could buy one someday in the near future.

Wishing you 3 lac km of joy on this beauty.

What better way to start a Wednesday morning!
Thank you so much and in fact it’s the only Mitsubishi in my campus. I really hope you find a clean lancer cedia of your own and have a wonderful experience with it.

Thank you so much for your wishes and I will ensure it’ll keep running forever.

Hi MitSus,

So happy to see such a clean & well preserved Cedia.
It is so Analogue & charming. Communicative steering & engaging chassis with independent rear suspension. You don't get cars like these today so keep it.

Do you stay close to Navlur? I think i have spotted this car in Navlur once.
Where do you get it serviced?

Thanks.

I assume that the kid in the pic is you, nothing like getting to drive and own the car that you have grown up with and more so with a Yellow Cedia.
Yess! That’s me in the picture. It definitely is a very special feeling.

Thank you for kind words. Yes, I live Padur. It’s serviced by my mechanic. He takes care of everything on the car and he personally comes and takes it for service. I don’t know where exactly his shop is.

Yes I totally agree with you regarding the wheels. They still look good and suit the car really well also it gives the car a really good stance. Yes that car gathers a lot of attention mostly because of the color.

A very well maintained machine and an envious one. I always admired the Japanese workmanship and it shows in your car.

Stay safe and enjoy the ride for many more years to come.
Thank you so much. I completely agree about your views on Japanese workmanship. Simple engineering with meticulous quality control is the reason why it’s still running smoothly even after so many years.

Luckily have a mechanic who is a mitsu expert and helps will repairs Love the car and the driving experience !!!
Great to see another cedia owner keeping it for so long. Yeah these problems keep coming on and off but the fact you have Mitsubishi expert by your side is great and probably solves most of niggles. Yes the driving experience is unmatched.

A dear friend has a 2004 Lancer and maintained just like how you have. There isn't a creak in the car and drives butter smooth.
Yeah it’s really sad that Mitsubishi is fading away even on the global stage. Really glad to hear that your friend still owns that lancer and has maintained it.

Re: My Yellow Mitsubishi Cedia Sports | 13 year & 150,000 km ownership review

What a stunning drive you have there!

I remember when the Cedia sport launched and in a sea of relatively boxy premium D segment sedans, this was an absolute stunner. Used to regularly run into a yellow one in College road (maybe even your car) in the 2010-12 period.

1.5L kms should not be a challenge for such robust engines, and would love to follow your page for updates. If you could do a stage 3 mod just imagine the sheer pleasure of driving then!

Best of luck and please please hold onto it for some time

Re: My Yellow Mitsubishi Cedia Sports | 13 year & 150,000 km ownership review

Wow such a well maintained car. In 2009 Cedia sports was in the top of my list, but finally bought Fiesta 1.6s as I could connect with that better. Though always doubted my decision whenever I spotted a Cedia.

Did Cedia sports come with OZ Racing alloys as stock or is it aftermarket? I thought it came with Momo alloys

Just one word Wow!! Cedia was my fav when I was in college. I used to see one close to my home and would drool over it. Arguably one of the best looking cars in the country. The best example of a car that ages just too well. Your car looks just stunning even today. Great that you do not have any intentions to sell it. I wish you many more happy miles of driving. Good luck.

Thank you! And yes the 2009 FL came with OZ racing alloys including a full sized spare wheel from the factory. It got a MOMO steering wheel not wheels.

Re: My Yellow Mitsubishi Cedia Sports | 13 year & 150,000 km ownership review

Loved every part of your detailed and passionate review. IMO, petrol cars produced in the 2000s had them all. Great reliable engines, good handling and ride, space and looks. Manufacturers had perfectected multi point inderect injection. OBD-II port also helps in identifying issues. The cars were also not too complex like today's cars. Words like sub 4m and planned obscelesence didn't exist in their minds. This led to really reliable, good to drive cars. The only missing point was fuel efficiency, but one can't have it all can they?

I have a 2002 Maruti 800 5 speed, Alto 1.1 VXi. And both perform flawlessly even 20 years after they were manufactured. Only difference being that parts are still easily and cheaply available. Although they can't come close to the Cedia in handling, interiors or the exteriors.

My fiesta 1.6S in Aquarius blue is very similar to your car in its characteristics. And I can concur on most of the points that you've mentioned in your post.

I see that you're in Chennai too. We'll see if a meet-up will be possible

Happy driving!

Where do you service the car nowadays? For Spares, there are a few WhatsApp/FB groups! But most of these groups are run by people trying to make a quick $!
In one such group, one of the admins used to sell used items and charge 2x the cost of a new part! : Frustrati Sadly all members kept silent.

Do keep an eye on the power steering hose - they start leaking from time to time.

Re: My Yellow Mitsubishi Cedia Sports | 13 year & 150,000 km ownership review

Such a beautiful Japanese car. Stunning. Kick myself even today for not having bought one when i had the chance.

Says a lot about these cars of that era. How many you think would be waxing eloquent on today's cars/faux SUVs 10 years from now? No one.

Maintain it well and hold onto it forever. Do not sell it for anything. Cars like this are not made anymore.

Re: My Yellow Mitsubishi Cedia Sports | 13 year & 150,000 km ownership review

Welcome to the forum, buddy!

Is that you in the first pic of the car on the delivery day? if yes, I guess you caught the scent of the car at the very young age and how lucky to have grown along with it!

Such a sweet memory to see yourself at the driving wheel and a decade down the line you’re driving the same legend to your college! It must be a head-turner and a chic magnet isn’t it? Lol.

As for the mods, I would suggest not to push the car too much with mechanicals so that it doesn’t throw tantrums considering the age and mileage in hand. If at all you plan to do, now is the right time because after 5 more years, I’m sure you’d have found new interests in the automotive world and you won’t invest much time on this as it’d have aged even further and won’t be worth the risk. Just 2 cents

I wish you safe and happy mile munching with the beauty there!

Re: My Yellow Mitsubishi Cedia Sports | 13 year & 150,000 km ownership review

Welcome to Team-bhp!

None of the newer cars on road today would grab my attention as fast as this thing would, immaculately maintained. Being Mod-friendly is in the DNA of a Mitsubishi so whatever you’ve planned for your car it shouldn’t be a problem.

My advice would be to keep it for as long as you can, it’s a mechanical gem and truly deserves the extra effort to be kept that way. Wishing you many more miles with it.

Re: My Yellow Mitsubishi Cedia Sports | 13 year & 150,000 km ownership review

Frankly, one of reasons i have the Cedia for so long and i think the other owners will agree as well, there is no car that gives this kind of value in terms of performance in the 2 L bracket. And heck, there are very cars in India in the 2 L bracket.

I don't see myself buying any of the cars or SUVs that are available in the market today that can replace the Cedia in terms of handling. The day i see a vehicle that can match the Cedia at its price point (almost impossible), i will buy.

I have also been thinking, and this is a ludicrous idea, if there is a slight possibility of adding a hybrid engine (EV Drivetrain) 5 years down the line and still use it?
