The Skoda/Merc/Optra horns are better known as Windtone horns which you get in various brands like roots, hella, etc.

Windtone is a Roots product. The complete name for the horn in question is Roots Windtone Super.
Here is the link: Root Industries Limited - Products - WINDTONE

IIRC Skoda/Optra horns are made by Bosch. But they sound the same as Roots.

The first service was with the dealer (Indus) and was not satisfactory. So this time went to a MASS, Autoteam (courtesy: nikkibike).
Overall experience was very good. They took care of all the 4 minor issues I reported (out of which 2 were there during first service itself, and they skipped).
Overall very nice experience. Mr.Sajith and Mr.Sunny @autoteam were very cooperative and knowledgeable. Thanks nikkibike again.
Regards
hmm..... good! So when is the 'cheers' dude?!!!

Roots super cost me 450+50 installation.
yeah, I am in Delhi. I think that skoda horn is a necessity specially when you have to go to gurgaon. Cab and auto drivers hardly notice swift's easy on ears horn.

Swift horn is a little on the gentle side. Might consider a change myself.

Any relationship between this Roots and the Roots car company in 1950s UK? Nothing mentioned on the site, so perhaps not.

Hella also makes them. The sound is called windtone and many other compnies also have windtone horns. Hella calls it Windtone Rainbow i guess.

Optra's is made in Korea and costs 3500 for two with installation, from GM dealer, its not made by bosch but by GM-DAT(General Motors -Daewoo Auto Technologies)

Hey BUSA, Are you sure of the horn being from GM-DAT?

The lancer SFXi has the same horn. If you ask it from them they will slap a bill of Rs.3500 for the pair of horns. The horns are in a box with the mitsubishi logo which says Mitsubishi windtone horn. When you open it you realise it's the Bosch horn.

It costs Rs.550 outside.

Ya its from GM-DAT, have the box lying somewhere. Actually my Optra came with the puny horn since RTO had some issues with these horns as they are kinda VIP types, so got it changed.

You cant get same horns outside, these are round ones unlike the other ones you get outside.

Anyways guys check my signature. Whoaa........!!

Detailed report will be coming up later once i install the box.

The box costs Rs. 29000, total value for money i would say.

The box

The performance box

Opening the engine cover aint easy unless you have a size 8 box type spanner.

Many thanks to Peter aka Turboindia for the excellent support offered by him and answering all my PM's and technical queries asap.
