ECU problems ??

Guys,
what are the problems with the ECU everybody is talking about? Can someone pls provide some details on the ECU issues?

I heard that MUL is calling few cars with specific engine numbers and replacing the ECU with problems, mainly due to programming errors!!

How would one know that there is problem with their vehicle's ECU?

That was the case with Hyundais until Sep30th,06.

After that they started charging for oil right from second service ( 1st service needs no oil change for CRDI). And, i bought my car on Oct 1st, can you beat that??

During my first service, I was dealing with an engineer in MUL service workshop. I was asking about the Digital clock issues and that time he mentioned about MUL calling few cars with problems in ECU.

I could not ask him much, as he said that the problem is not with all the ECUs, only with few cars and MUL is identifying those cars by using the engine number and calling the owners to change/reprogram the ECU.

Just got my firsrt service done..paid around 1K for the service.. Had a question .. What wud be the optimum drive config post 1st service.. IF i go over 3K rpm, wud it damage the car..? If i maintain below 3k and go over 80 kmph.. will it result in heavy load on the engine..? Spoke to the service advisor.. he told me that gotta maintain 80kmph till 5000 kms..!! Any comments..?

Thats a bucketful of crap handed over to you by your advisor .

After 1st service, you can certainely go over 3K rpm and just ensure that you shift at appropriate rpms for each gear ( upto 3K rpm for each gear ) that ways you dont stress the engine. New age diesel engines are geared to take some beating so go ahead and rev it up and enjoy the torque

my car is touching 4000 km mark and i have started red lining it already, no issues so far have been doing 100 km/hr plus since 100 km odo mark he he

for a 1k km car keep rpm within 3.5k to 4k, its not how high the rpm is but how soon you hit that rpm that can cause wear

623 for oil change....add 20% vat to it....total gets smewhere around Rs 764. I guess,it depends upon taxes in diff states.

@urban_legend : I constantly did 80-90 before 1st service. Jaggu gave me these figures according to correct rpm in some previous post. After 1st service i have touched 120 once. I also do what jaggu suggested in his recent post i.e. take easy on acceleration and don't worry much about about top speed.

@jaggu
: The oil M.A.S.S. filled during 1st service was of BP and costed round 180 rs/ltr. I am thinking of taking engine oil from market when i go for next service. The cost of Oil Mobil Delvac is marginally lesser when compared to BP. I do not have any knowledge about engine oils. How is Oil Mobil Delvac better than BP ?

Thanks

absolutely no idea and not bothered till 10 k kms as long as the oil is clear and clean after every oil change, after that i might shift to a fully synthetic one for diesel
