An impromptu lunch drive to Anchetty and ODO @ 1,50,000 Kms:

Its long time since I had been on any leisure drives. So, when bhpian speedsatya asked me for a drive to Anchetty, I didn't think twice. Anchetty is famous amongst cycling group as it is one of the toughest route but a scenic one. speedsatya was on his bike and another friend was my co-passenger.
We started around 12:15 PM and the weather was cloudy.

The route was via Bannerghatta Road, Thattekere, Maralwadi, Dodduru, Therubeedi, Hunasanahalli, Anchetty. And the return route via Denkanikottai, Thalli, Ankekal.

When we were around Thattekere it was very cloudy but by the time we reached Maralwadi it started drizzling followed by some heavy rains. The forest route was fun to drive. The roads are all newly tarred. so we didn't come across any bad stretches.

Just before Anchetty we stopped for some pics and reached Anchetty later by 3:00 PM. Since we didn't have the lunch yet, after checking with few locals we stopped at Hotel Sri Murugan for lunch. They had only Non-Veg but made a plate of Veg fried rice for my friend.

The Non-Veg food was good. We had chicken biryani and parotta-chicken.

ODO @ 1,50,000 Km:

During my recent drive to Chennai, the ODO crossed the 1,50,000 Km milestone. Its now closer to 10K Kms since the last service and all good so far. I am thinking of getting the service done every 10K Kms from now on. The wheel alignment/balancing is pending too.

Rear Wiper replaced:

The rear wiper was never replaced till date and recently it started putting lines. So, I decided to get this replaced. As mentioned by few already, the wipers are very expensive, the rear wiper costs around 4K.

Thanks to the below post by ramnaresh_2000, I got this ordered via amazon for 400/-.

As mentioned in the above post, it is a quick job to replace this wiper. I followed the same steps and replaced it. For now, its working fine.

Now that you have done 1.5 lakh km, you would have started to think about the compass replacement(going by the Linea 2 lakh km replacement trend). Have you thought about it?

To be frank, I have not thought about any replacement yet. And I doubt that I will replace Scarlett as I really don't see a proper upgrade at a sensible price.

Wheel Alignment and Balancing at Madhus:

I got this done two weeks back as it was close to 9K Kms since the last WA/WB work. Normally I get this done at 5-7K Kms duration but missed the mark this time.



Tyres after 50K Kms





I don’t see any issues with the tyres nor there is any uneven wear and tear. The tyre tread still looks good.

Brake pads after 50K Kms

No issues here as well, I think it’s good for another 10K Kms at least.





Got a puncture recently, thanks to the TPMS, I was able to catch it before a long drive.

It started raining heavily and rained for around 400 Kms making it a nice monsoon drive.

Trip details – Good fuel efficiency as this included some spirited runs and city traffic in Chennai and Nagercoil. ODO has crossed 1,52,000 Kms.



Next Service:

Its 11K since the last service, I am planning to get the normal service (oil/filter replacements) soon.

Issues:

One of the yellow drl has conked off and I have to get this checked during the next service. Currently I have disabled them so it doesn’t look odd with just one glowing.

If it is very expensive, then I will check for after market options.

It's always a pleasure to read about owners keeping their rides well beyond the 100k kms in trouble free condition. A big thumbs up for your Scarlett. The tires at 50k kms done don't you think you should think about replacing them considering you drive long distances and outstation more often especially with the rainy season here?

I have not observed any issues with the grip level or braking distance. Its still good. During the recent visit for WA/WB, the technicians checked and didn't find any reason for a replacement now.

Oil/Filters Replacement Service + Complete Checkup @ 1,52,500 Kms – PPS/MPS Motors, Electronic City:

Even though the service schedule is every 15K Kms, with my Jeep ageing, I have decided to get the general service maintenance every 10-11K Kms.



Complaints:

• One of the yellow drl had conked off. The cost of this bulb is 7K as it is getting imported. I didn’t want to spend this much. so I’ve decided to skip this for the moment. There is an option to turn off this drl. So, I’ve turned it off.
• Rattling from the inside RVM console.

Work Done in this Service:

• Air filter, AC filter, Oil filter, Fuel filter replaced
• Engine oil replaced and other fluids top-up were done
• Brake bleeding / cleaning
• Complete checkup
• Rattling issue fixed

Observation from them after the Service

• Front brake pad has another 10-15K Km life
• Rear brakes are still good, they were surprised by this as its still on the stock brake pads.
• Rear boot shocks might need replacement as the movement is slightly restricted.
• Left fender lining has some minor damages. This can be ignored or replaced. It costs around 3K.
• Timing belt will have to be replaced during the next service. Earlier the timing belt replacement duration was 75K Kms. But now they have moved it to 90K Kms.
• Suspension/shock absorber setup looks fine. No leakage nor any abnormal sounds so far.
• Battery, Alternator all are good.

Total damage to the pocket : 16,789 /-

Overall, the technicians at PPS did a good job and I don’t have any complaints.

7k for the halogen bulb is too much. I got the DRL LEDs changed locally for 4,500/- and it has been more than an year now. They are working fine. I would suggest to go with LED instead of the stock halogen bulbs. For reference please checkout these on Amazon.

It is almost impossible to find a branded DRL LED's for Compass. The reviews seems to be decent.

There is a difference in the engine oil grade level between BS4 and BS6 models. For BS4 it is 0W-20 which costs around 4K and for BS6 it is 5W-30 or 40 which costs around 7K. This is not specific to Meridian, its for Compass as well.
