re: Mahindra Xylo Ownership Review @ 70000 kms

Hi. Xylo is a great cruiser on good roads and expressways. The high speed ride is excellent. It rolls if you drive fast in ghat sections but the grip levels are good with the Bridgestone duellers . I had driven to Amritsar from Mumbai in 2 days and stretch from Ranthambore to Vadodara outskirts in one day on the way back. Absolutely terrific. It is a tough and reliable vehicle with low maintenance.
Though a lot of folks will not appreciate its plain boxy look , I actually find it neat looking specially when I consider later Mahindra designs. Mahindra xylo should have had a lower CG but when you design a basic form with flat loading bay as primary requirement ,( for the genio pick up ) i suppose the Dice was loaded from the start, it would have rolled much less I suppose had it been low sprung with the transmission hump intruding up. Then again one can not have ' muqammal jehaan' .
Even then even the Innova has its issues like small seats and very poor under thigh support for tall folks. All in all the xylo excels in space and seating comfort department. No complaints there.

re: Mahindra Xylo Ownership Review @ 70000 kms

The Xylo completed 52,000 kms on the odo this week. We did highway trips to Goa, Mangalore over the past couple of weeks. They were comfortable rides for the family.

A couple of snaps after the trip, after the post trip cleaning and shampoo wash !

re: Mahindra Xylo Ownership Review @ 70000 kms

60,000 kms up yesterday, after some trips to temple towns near Bangalore. No problems to report.

Next service is due in March 2018. I am mostly doing city runabouts anyway, till then.

re: Mahindra Xylo Ownership Review @ 70000 kms

Replaced the clutch assembly during last weeks's servicing, as there was juddery feeling during release. Also replaced the brake pads and star joint bearing.

Total cost of servicing and repairs including labour and parts was Rs. 21,400/-.

Did a trip to Coimbatore and back after the servicing, and the Xylo is back in business.

Current odometer reading is 61500 kms.

Thanks for that update Mooza. What was the issue with AC?

Edit: Last year the clutch assembly and now this condensor coil, two major repair bills. Are these issues only in case of your Xylo or others as well? Can you please post the details of all services with major/minor parts replacements? I was always under the impression that Xylo was quite a reliable MUV and should be easy on pocket as far as maintenance is concerned.

re: Mahindra Xylo Ownership Review @ 70000 kms

Thanks AutoIndian.
There have been no other parts replacements. Clutch wear out at 60k kms was because of the terrible bumper to bumper traffic to my place of work, I feel (one hour daily to cover 9 kms distance one way!). I have added an automatic Kwid to my stable now, to prevent early wear out of my left knee! The Xylo is now reserved for long trips/family outings only.
I feel the AC repair came in a bit early. The AC was not cooling satisfactorily in summer. Now it is cooling well after the repairs.

Thanks for that clarification. I can now understand the reason for clutch replacement. That must have be a real torture for your clutch and even for your left leg

Re: Mahindra Xylo Ownership Review @ 70000 kms

Crossed 100,000 kms on the odo yesterday, spent 7k on regular servicing 6 months ago including oil change, filter change. Been using the Xylo more on weekend getaways of late.
No problems faced between 70 k upto 100k kms, so far so good. The 3rd row is dedicated to my 2 dogs, who enjoy the space !

Good to see Xylo enthusiast. My vehicle is idle for several months, since I have Innova too in my garage. But my family definitely misses the space and comfort of Xylo long travel. I intend to "revive" and ready that car for use again.
