Jokes apart, I once did this on my S-Cross and put in a small cupboard. After the seats folded, the space is huge.

Great car and great job documenting everything.

Thanks for the ride today. I mean the turbo spools ( ) and boy does that thing pull.

Factory horses are great but adding personal touches and building something like this, brings a uniqueness like no other.

P.S. Sorry for the okay-ish angle, the rain didn't help :/

Engine Torque Rod Replaced

During the 70k km service, Wagen Tunen had found out that the torque rod is weak. It is a rod at bottom part of engine connecting to gearbox. They had sourced the part in few days, but I couldn't get it replaced due to lockdown.

Part Cost: Rs. 1653
Labour: Rs. 250

Good experience at Wagen Tunen as always

There is no sound while going over speed breakers and the mild jerk during sudden acceleration has also disappeared.

Stay Tuned....Few Upgrades are on the way

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM) | EDIT : 5 years & 75,000 km up!

Super cheap DIY gear knob change!!

The OE gear knob of S-Cross 1.6 is an imported part and priced at more than Rs.5000. Many owners have issues with the knob as it develops cracks and disintegrates. Tip is to avoid parking under sun or use a cloth on gear knob when parked under sun. The knob gets super sticky after exposure to sunlight, followed by cracking.

Cheap / Smart solution:

1. Get the OE knob of Ciaz 1.5 DDIS: Rs. 520

2. Swap the shift pattern badges

Thanks to Mr. Neeraj for this picture, he has explained the procedure very well.

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-screenshot_20210624123933.jpg

I had done the step 1 few days back, but was not able to remove the shift pattern badge easily from the Ciaz knob.

Look at the condition of gear knob

There was no issue driving with Ciaz knob, but it was difficult when someone else would drive the car as they would try slotting into first gear instead of reverse .

Finally I found something in my animal dissection kit and thought it would work..and it did haha

Attached the S cross shift pattern badge on Ciaz knob and saved around Rs. 4500!!

Exterior & Interior detailing done

I hadn't got the car detailed since long time. I came across a shop named A to Z car accessories in Udupi. Their work looked good and the pricing was very VFM.

I got a package priced at Rs. 3500 which included

1. Exterior detailing: Proper wash which included removal of tyres, number plates, all emblems were cleaned with brush. Major scratches were removed by wet sanding followed by machine polish for the full body. They also did dressing of all the black trims and tyres.

2. Interior detailing: Vacuum cleaning, foam cleaning and dressing

They took a long time but the end result was top notch.

Wiper blades changed

I also got new wiper blades (26+14). Brand is Excelite, trying for the first time. Price is Rs. 570

Brake Pads Changed:

Front:

I installed TVS HI-PER brake pads. Had bought it for Rs.1400 from Boodmo. Previous pads were KBX and I had done 8k kms, the pads had 50 percentage of the life left. But, there were minor cracks leading to vibrations under braking.

Rear:

OE rear pads cost 6k+. I bought Roulunds pads from Boodmo for Rs. 1150. I was using driveline pads before and had done around 6k km. One of the pad was damaged due to caliper issue. Hence, changed the entire set.

I used to hardly get 7-8k kms average life for front brake pads. It looks like doubled now after ICE Upgrade, time to make it 3x more with Morel Elate Titanium 603 .

Oh Yes, I had posted about installing Morel Virtus 602..but the Elate Titanium with sticker price of 2 lakhs was available at massive discount and I just picked it up.

Feedback on new brake pads

Intial bite is impressive. I have driven around 1000 km with these pads. Good alternative compared to OE pads. I didn't check full braking at high speeds. Not expecting it to perform like EBC. Hope it's as good as stock or slightly better.

Bad News

I got rear ended by an Alto. I had slowed down before the toll booth and the idiot just crashed into me. The damage doesn't look that bad from outside, but it's not the case inside. The rear panel is badly damaged and even the floor area is pushed in, so the boot doesn't get locked properly. All thanks to the cost cutting by Maruti, rear crash bar is deleted for Indian S-Cross

That's sad Doc.

Someone cast an evil eye on your beauty.

What was the story of the Alto ? Did he brake late ? I hope you are taking him to task.

I am sure you will bring it back to the original spec and maybe include the crash guard too

This happened at speed breaker just before the toll gate. I had slowed down and just crossed the speed breaker and hear a loud sound . It was raining too, may be the Alto guy braked late and the wet roads made it worse.

Yes, I am exploring this idea to add the crash member. It's too expensive to import.

That's sad. Will you be replacing the boot door too? If yes then remember to do a thorough water leak test before taking delivery. I had a tough time with getting the leak plugged from the beading area as well as the glass pasting area. Another issue that can crop up is the dislodging of the request sensor relay or something like that located on the under side of the inner trim of rear floor panel where the lock of boot is located. It may not be the same as Brezza but better to check it.
