Rear alignment was bad. Right side toe was much higher than the normal value.

Experienced a remapped S Cross 1.6 at Valley Run Lonavla, Mumbai last Sunday. It was damn quick but poor chap raced against a Lamborghini.

Why are you messing with an airbag? Sure the new steering looks really good, but you don't know what differences there are in the exact components. Even if the airbag light does not indicate any fault, the actual deployment may be faulty in case the two systems are tuned differently.

Oh nice! Any idea who is the tuner ?

Airbag will be changed not the airbag ECU.

I'm all ears and eyes to this upgrade.

I had posted this query in XL6 spotting thread regarding the flat bottom steering (Maruti Suzuki to launch a premium MPV. Update: XL6 launched @ Rs. 9.80 lakhs) .

The swap should be successful. We had installed new swift steering and airbag in Baleno and it worked without any issues. Thanks to a known dealer who tried this out in their demo cars .

Just in case if it fails in S-Cross, I will install in Baleno..cruise control button would be dummy though

Genuine question.

How does one know it works unless it was crash tested? Seems like a bit of a gamble IMO. Although, agreed it would enhance the looks quite nicely.

It's no rocket science to understand if it will work or not. We are not disturbing any sensors and Airbag ECU. Driver airbag + inflator will be changed, it just needs signal from airbag ecu to work during crash.

I can see that you are changing the airbag only, and not the ECU. The Swift to Baleno swap is not a valid reference as they are built on the same Heartect platform. They will be using the same ECUs everywhere. Even the Ertiga is built on the same platform - so it's likely it is cross compatible with Swift / Baleno.

But your S-Cross is built on a completely different platform and can have a different Airbag controller ECU. Just a quick search revealed the following 6 different ECU models with different part numbers for Swift / SX4 sold in the UK from Siemens / Continental. Do you think anybody has rated these ECUs to work with any inflators except for the combinations that were actually shipped from the factory? There's no common standard for airbag inflators like a CANBUS system - manufacturers are free to implement whatever signaling systems they wish to implement with different voltages / ground references etc.

It's not rocket science, but unless you have studied every resistor and chip in the entire chain from the ECU to the inflator, you can't be sure if it will work when needed.

YES!

Baleno and S-Cross have airbag inflators (driver) of same family. Airbag inflators of Swift and XL6 are the same.

I will update here after the installation. We had used SDT (Suzuki Diagnostic Tool ) to check the airbag system in Baleno and it was all good. The same will be done for S-Cross too .

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

Mission Fail

We faced only one issue and that is the major one as the steering won't be functional

XL6 steering has larger hole and doesn't fit tight on S-Cross column.

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img20191228wa0037.jpg

All the functions like audio, call buttons and cruise were working. There was no issue with airbag too as both XL6 and S-Cross have similar units from Nippon Japan.

The steering did look very good , you can also see the cruise light on

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20191228_125916.jpg

Hope it fits in my Baleno
