re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

The car has hardly run after brake pads change. EBC pads have still not bedded in, but the initial bite is too good. There's no abnormal noise like Dixcel pads. I am using Baleno nowadays as I can't fit S-Cross in my new apartment . I am planning to take S-Cross for a long trip and then give my feedback on EBC pads. I so miss my S-Cross, all other cars in my house feel too boring to drive.

Insurance Renewal: I got it from Maruti for Rs.18,300. Did not opt for Zero depreciation.

Good news: I got the car back to Manipal after 1.5 months. Planning on 600 km round trip to Goa this weekend .

I drove around 150 kms today, delivered farm fresh mangoes to fellow BHPians on my way to Manipal . I found the car to be more stable on corners, may be due to new stabiliser rods. EBC pads have brilliant initial bite and less noisy compared to Dixcel. I found brake fade resistance slightly lower than Dixcel ES. There's lot of smell from the brakes too, I guess it's the brake in coating of EBC pads. More feedback after Goa trip, pads would be fully bedded in. Stage 3 200 HP setup is very very addictive, had fun seeing an X3 disappear in IRVM today , haha.

Managed to park in Manipal apartment

And here it is. Farm fresh Alphonsoes from Naren's farm. They are organic but they sure taste like they are remapped. Exciting to eat.

Glad you liked them . Haha, Mangoes are not tuned, they are fully stock.

Wet Grip : Perfinzas

I love it !! These tyres resist hydroplaning very well and the grip on wet roads are much better than MC5's. I am waiting for KYB shocks to arrive, that should sort out the handling department.

Stage 3 Map

I have driven around 3000 kms without any issues. There was black smoke only under full throttle, it has reduced a lot after engine oil change..not sure what's the reason. Engine air filter was not changed.

My friend has also got decat downpipe and turbo upgrade at Blackworks. He is already very happy and was asking me if he really needs Stage 3 map from Wolf . Blackworks did brilliant job as usual. The car was out on same day.

Few Pics of his car undergoing mods

800 Kms in 2 days : Goa Drive

This is my first long drive with Stage 3 build and EBC pads. S-Cross performed very well. Thoroughly enjoyed the 200 horses.

EBC Brake Pads :

1. The aggressive initial bite is not there anymore. It's progressive now.

2. Brake fade resistance is much better than OE TVS pads.

3. Surprisingly, the brake dust levels are high. May be due to slotted rotors.

I got 14 kmpl overall FE, not at all bad for Stage 3 car driven by Doctor, haha!

Roads are in better shape compared to my previous Goa drive. Still, there are lot of diversions and speed breakers to handle after Kundapur.

Yes, you get some good stretches too

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

EBC Pads : 1500 Kms

Thickness is almost same as new. Do note that car is 200 HP and I do lot of high speed braking
My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img20190603wa0054.jpg

The green paint on outer surface is peeling off and the golden yellow colour is exposed. Doesn't affect the braking. I think it's due to lot of heat, thanks to slotted rotors and high speed braking.

Dixcel rotors have also become smooth after EBC pads. The brake in coating of EBC pads did the trick

I couldn't click any pics of rear pads. I will do it when wheels are removed.

KYB Front shocks have arrived
My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img20190603wa0007.jpg

I will install them after few days. Need to change rear suspension beam and also wait for KYB rear shocks.

Where did you procure the KYB shocks from? Is there a local distributor?

I got it through a friend from Dubai. Best part is it costs lesser than OE Gabriel shocks of Maruti .

Bad News :

I had noticed that front left tyre was dropping around 2-3 psi per day. I got the tyre inspected today. There is minor leak from sidewall . It's external damage, mostly during Goa drive.

Plan is to fix this tyre by hot patch and use it as spare. I will get a new MRF Perfinza tyre.

It looks fine, working well with EBC green pads now.

I strongly advise that you don't use this tyre anymore! You are driving a 200 HP car, and the cost of one tyre is not worth risking your life, or the cost of totaling your car in an accident due to a sudden loss of tyre pressure at highway speeds.

Please do rethink this decision.

Cheers

I tried waterless car wash for the first time, used the one from Proklear. Results are impressive and it works as claimed. I removed the dust first by Jopasu duster and used Proklear in 1:100 dilution. Less than 500 ml solution was used for the entire car. It was very easy to remove the bird droppings.

Glow Plug Malfunction
My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20190615_172705.jpg

I got this warning when I started the car today. I drove to Abharan Motors Udupi. The car was immediately scanned with SDT and it was faulty glow plug in cylinder 1. They didn't have the part in stock. But, they informed me that it was available in Mandovi Mangalore. I had to visit Mangalore anyways and dropped in at Mandovi Motors. I was out with my car in an hour. I was not charged anything, all covered under warranty.

Glow Plug for S-Cross 1.6 costs around Rs.1100. It's made by Bosch and imported from France. It also had Mopar name on it.

Hehe. Sure! How frequently did you use it when you were using it back then? And in what volumes per tankful?
I've a 2011 Jetta with 80k kms on the clock. I just wanted to be sure that this wouldn't hurt things if at all it doesn't improve.
