Update
So, it’s almost 3 months now and been a while since my last update of the car. Perfect time as the car is nearing the 3000km mark and has completed its first service.
Service Experience
As the car was due for its first service, I called up Lathangi Ford service center opposite IIMB on Bannerghatta Road and booked a service slot on 5th Jan at 9:30 am. The lady offered a 90mins quick service as the first service would include just a general inspection of the car and nothing else. Reached the service center at the specified time and was immediately attended to by a service engineer. The customary filling of the job card began and he asked me if I faced any problems/niggles. There were none. He offered to clean and perfume the A/C vents and add a soap solution to the windscreen washer that would clean the wind shield effectively, on a chargeable basis. Although these were not necessary, I opted for them. The car was taken inside for a wash after which, the inspection was done. Everything was found OK and the entire service cost me INR 857/-.

- Service Center location which is 1.8kms from my house and the cleanliness maintained.
- Friendly staff. Approachable and courteous.
- Most service centers do not allow customers into the service area but here, it was allowed to watch the entire process if one wanted to.
- Was offered tea/coffee/water several times.
- Nice customer lounge.

- With a 90 mins quick service, you expect that you get the car back within the 90 mins, if not more. Not so much the case here. The car wash, cleaning and polishing itself took about 90 mins! It was then taken to a service bay where the inspection was done. The complete service took about two and a half hours in the end!
- While washing the car, the ORVMs were manually opened and closed. When they handed the car to me, I was not able to fold the mirrors electrically. There was the buzzing noise of the motors but the mirrors would not close. It was only after trying a few times locking and unlocking the car that they started working again. Gave a piece of mind for the service engineer who was apologetic and in his defense told me that mine was the first car they’ve serviced with electrically folding OVRMs (which was plain BS). He assured me that if I face any problems in the future, he’d get them replaced under warranty.
- The entire dashboard including the steering wheel and the gear lever were sprayed with a polishing liquid and was not cleaned properly. It made the entire area sticky and a dust magnet. Decided not to get this done the next time.
Overall, I would rate the service experience 3/5.
The Car

- It is a complete attention seeker while on the road and a conversation starter when parked. The amount ‘looks’ and ‘thumbs up’ I've been getting are plenty. Almost everyone who've spoken to me had only positive things to say about the car and also wonder why it is not setting the sales charts on fire.
- The engine has opened up quite significantly and has become a cracker! The turbo kick after 1800rpm is much more noticeable now and what joy it brings on my face! My dad is in love with the way the engine delivers power.
- NVH levels (which were already low to begin with) have reduced even more over time.
- Healthy fuel efficiency of 17kmpl in the city and 21kmpl on the highway! With the diesel prices being INR 54.xx in B’lore, the savings on fuel have gone up exponentially as compared to when we had the Getz.
- The interiors have held up well with no squeals or rattles whatsoever. The front seats are as comfortable as sitting on a plush sofa and I've managed to find my perfect driving position now. My mom and granny are also very comfortable at the back.
- SYNC is a boon. Making/receiving calls has never been easy. Bluetooth connectivity is fairly simple and my iPhone connects seamlessly every single time.
- The boot can swallow quite a bit of luggage. My friend was travelling to Germany for his studies and they’d booked an Innova to ferry people to the airport and carry some of the luggage with their Swift being the main luggage hauler. Enter my Fiesta and it swallowed a huge suitcase, a kit bag and his backpack with more space to spare! The Swift was left out in the end. His dad was very impressed with the car.

- Few tiny scratches have risen on the front bumper out of nowhere. It must be due to flying stones/debris while driving.
- Once, while driving besides a tempo, a stone flew and hit the left front door leaving multiple scratches!!! Was supposed to get it touched up at the service center but they did not have the paint so have left it for now.
- The boot door is scratching the rear bumper at a certain place as shown in the pic below –
Decided to visit the friendly folks at 3M, JP Nagar and got PPF installed on that area of the rear bumper. In turn, got the PPF done for the OVRMs as well. Total cost was INR 2036/-.
- I've been waiting for the front center arm rest and the sporty pedals for ages now and I don’t think I’ll be getting them anytime soon! Would this be the case if I were an Ecosport customer? I don’t think so!
Overall ownership experience has been blissful. I've done B’lore-Mysore-B’lore a couple of times last month and the drive has been fun, although Mysore road is not the place where you can test a car’s capabilities.
