After driving the 1.1 Getz Prime, this is going to be a sea of difference in driving this car.
Thank you arnabchak! Its totally another world inside the Fiesta when compared to the Getz. The first impression that I had was how tight the whole package was. Where the Getz felt tinny and loose, in the Fiesta it felt like I was cocooned inside an unbreakable shell.
The Getz was downright low on power so it was an easy choice for me to pick up my Ninja's keys when I was heading for the highway. But now, its become really tough for me to decide whether to ride or drive!

I am considering buying this one, though she is a tad (1 lakh) over my budget. But she is all temptation, and posts like yours are not helping ;-) There was/is a decent discount on the Trend variant, and want to explore if I can push for more to get her within my reach.
Thank you PVPal! As I've mentioned it umpteen no of times now, this car is totally worth the money spent. Trend variant is real VFM proposition IMO. If you are going for the finance option then I feel a Lac will not hurt your EMIs that much. Make the plunge I say! :-)

Keep us posted on any initial niggles, on how you are getting used to her, and on the fuel efficiency numbers, etc.
The rear bench is indeed the biggest drawback of this lovely car. Even I was under the same impression until I took a test drive with my family and I was surprised to see that my parents were actually comfortable at the back. Two adults (who're not above 6ft) with a kid is definitely possible. Suggest you to take a test drive and decide.
I shall certainly update the thread with the latest info as soon as I'm back in Blore.

Its a nice detailed review. Nice to hear that the headlights are good in the Fiesta. The mileage should improve as you cover more miles.

Happy motoring!!!
Thanks buddy! Ecosport is a brilliant product in itself and I'm glad that its doing well. Parts and service will not be a problem for the Fiesta as it shares most of them with the Ecosport and it sure is here to stay for a long long time!
PS: Had we gone for the Ecosport, we'd have got it in Mars red. Its a unique and a brilliant color!

Thank you! During the booking, the dealer did not have a paprika red on display. I frantically searched the net to see the new Fiesta in paprika red but sadly, I couldn't get many pics that showed how it actually looks in that color. But one look at the Ford Classic in paprika red, we were sold on that color and the decision was made! Its a lovely shade and looks very good on the Classic as well!

Wow! The car looks hot in that shade. You have done full justice to the lines on the Fiesta and Paprika shade with your camera. Great photographs.

Enjoy that amazing drive. Awesome choice!

No, the autolock doesn't work beyond any speed and I intend to sort this issue during the first service, if it is possible that is. I've read on some thread that this feature can't be enabled even at the dealer level. Don't know how far its true but if it is, then it is an important safety feature that is overlooked by Ford India!

Well in Ecosport even if you lock the door manually, one can still open from inside. This is a safety norm in Europe. So when you move past speed of 7KM/hr doors would have got locked but to verify you might want to try opening from outside.
P.S: AFAIK Ecopsort and Fiesta share same locking mechanism.

Coming to your acquisition, congrats on the car! Wonderful choice and crisp realistic review.
Some things in your review are so realistic and should help clear doubts out there.
1. People out here say Ford plastics are of bad quality. I feel they are of good quality, comparable to VW infact, just the texture is not to everyone's taste. Infact the Ford imports its dashboard unit from Germany.
2. People call VW,Skoda as built like vault, tank and what not. Even i used to feel same. But now after we got Ecosport, i feel our Vento is flimsy!!
3. People call Ford's are expensive to maintain. Damn, every time i spend less money compared to Swift for service.

well said! I also wonder why people say negative about the plastic and the build quality, having a ford for the last 5 years I can vouch for the build quality of ford my 4 year old ikon used to have the same door "thud" even after these years and the plastics even though outdated had the same shining as new.

Your initial comments and review were one of the reasons that made my decision of buying the Fiesta simpler!!! Your ownership thread is brilliant to say the least and was the inspiration to pen down my thoughts here!!!

Re: Fast Ford - My 2014 Paprika Red Ford Fiesta

Update

Fast Ford - My 2014 Paprika Red Ford Fiesta-1.jpg

So, it’s almost 3 months now and been a while since my last update of the car. Perfect time as the car is nearing the 3000km mark and has completed its first service.

Service Experience

As the car was due for its first service, I called up Lathangi Ford service center opposite IIMB on Bannerghatta Road and booked a service slot on 5th Jan at 9:30 am. The lady offered a 90mins quick service as the first service would include just a general inspection of the car and nothing else. Reached the service center at the specified time and was immediately attended to by a service engineer. The customary filling of the job card began and he asked me if I faced any problems/niggles. There were none. He offered to clean and perfume the A/C vents and add a soap solution to the windscreen washer that would clean the wind shield effectively, on a chargeable basis. Although these were not necessary, I opted for them. The car was taken inside for a wash after which, the inspection was done. Everything was found OK and the entire service cost me INR 857/-.

Likes –

- Service Center location which is 1.8kms from my house and the cleanliness maintained.

- Friendly staff. Approachable and courteous.

- Most service centers do not allow customers into the service area but here, it was allowed to watch the entire process if one wanted to.

- Was offered tea/coffee/water several times.

- Nice customer lounge.

Dislikes –

- With a 90 mins quick service, you expect that you get the car back within the 90 mins, if not more. Not so much the case here. The car wash, cleaning and polishing itself took about 90 mins! It was then taken to a service bay where the inspection was done. The complete service took about two and a half hours in the end!

- While washing the car, the ORVMs were manually opened and closed. When they handed the car to me, I was not able to fold the mirrors electrically. There was the buzzing noise of the motors but the mirrors would not close. It was only after trying a few times locking and unlocking the car that they started working again. Gave a piece of mind for the service engineer who was apologetic and in his defense told me that mine was the first car they’ve serviced with electrically folding OVRMs (which was plain BS). He assured me that if I face any problems in the future, he’d get them replaced under warranty.

- The entire dashboard including the steering wheel and the gear lever were sprayed with a polishing liquid and was not cleaned properly. It made the entire area sticky and a dust magnet. Decided not to get this done the next time.

Overall, I would rate the service experience 3/5.

The Car

Likes –

- It is a complete attention seeker while on the road and a conversation starter when parked. The amount ‘looks’ and ‘thumbs up’ I've been getting are plenty. Almost everyone who've spoken to me had only positive things to say about the car and also wonder why it is not setting the sales charts on fire.

- The engine has opened up quite significantly and has become a cracker! The turbo kick after 1800rpm is much more noticeable now and what joy it brings on my face! My dad is in love with the way the engine delivers power.

- NVH levels (which were already low to begin with) have reduced even more over time.

- Healthy fuel efficiency of 17kmpl in the city and 21kmpl on the highway! With the diesel prices being INR 54.xx in B’lore, the savings on fuel have gone up exponentially as compared to when we had the Getz.

- The interiors have held up well with no squeals or rattles whatsoever. The front seats are as comfortable as sitting on a plush sofa and I've managed to find my perfect driving position now. My mom and granny are also very comfortable at the back.

- SYNC is a boon. Making/receiving calls has never been easy. Bluetooth connectivity is fairly simple and my iPhone connects seamlessly every single time.

- The boot can swallow quite a bit of luggage. My friend was travelling to Germany for his studies and they’d booked an Innova to ferry people to the airport and carry some of the luggage with their Swift being the main luggage hauler. Enter my Fiesta and it swallowed a huge suitcase, a kit bag and his backpack with more space to spare! The Swift was left out in the end. His dad was very impressed with the car.

Dislikes –

- Few tiny scratches have risen on the front bumper out of nowhere. It must be due to flying stones/debris while driving.

- Once, while driving besides a tempo, a stone flew and hit the left front door leaving multiple scratches!!! Was supposed to get it touched up at the service center but they did not have the paint so have left it for now.

Fast Ford - My 2014 Paprika Red Ford Fiesta-3.jpg

- The boot door is scratching the rear bumper at a certain place as shown in the pic below –

Fast Ford - My 2014 Paprika Red Ford Fiesta-4.jpg

Decided to visit the friendly folks at 3M, JP Nagar and got PPF installed on that area of the rear bumper. In turn, got the PPF done for the OVRMs as well. Total cost was INR 2036/-.

Fast Ford - My 2014 Paprika Red Ford Fiesta-5.jpg

Fast Ford - My 2014 Paprika Red Ford Fiesta-6.jpg

- I've been waiting for the front center arm rest and the sporty pedals for ages now and I don’t think I’ll be getting them anytime soon! Would this be the case if I were an Ecosport customer? I don’t think so!

Overall ownership experience has been blissful. I've done B’lore-Mysore-B’lore a couple of times last month and the drive has been fun, although Mysore road is not the place where you can test a car’s capabilities.

Here are a few pics taken by my friend (www.facebook.com/rainbowslices) on the way back.

PorscheFire, superb colour and excellent pics there.

How do you find the ground clearance for the Bangalore roads - especially when the car is full with passengers and luggage.

Good choice of car Porchefire. The colour looks good on the car as well. My only dislike in the new Fiesta is the alloys design. Otherwise it's good looking after the refresh.

Congrats PorscheFire, very well written Ownership log and a nice color too.

I have a Fiesta bought in Mid Nov and have a similar mileage on it.I got the PPF installed(3M) on the side mirrors and door edges, need to check how it holds as mine is Diamond White.

Thanks styx71.
The ground clearance is sufficient for Bangalore roads and thanks to the stiff suspension, never bottoms out. But yes, there was this one time when the car was loaded with 5 adults and two big suitcases and I managed to scrape the under belly on a really huge speed breaker. Bangalore has unusually huge speed breakers so in any other city, it should do fine!
