Hey there!

I'll be back soon. Im eagerly waiting for a detailing session. So planning to do it myself. And 3M sealant i don't find it durable enough. I have a few coatings from Gyeon which i plan to apply.

And yes, The interiors i shall ask Paul or Ajay to take care. In the worst case i shall hand over the exterior job as well.

Cool. Shall be waiting to catch up with you. Incase it is difficult I'll take the car to 3M and get the interiors done if you don't mind .

Miss driving the Jet!

Re: Tempest blue metallic VW Jetta DSG has arrived!

I am yet to post my First service update. A small information for the JET owners. I am not sure on how legit this can be but I believe that VW has mandated the diesel filter change in every service. The move was made keeping in mind the quality of diesel and other factors. I also had to change my diesel filter during my first service. I had inquired all the other service centers and this seems to be the trend.

Meantime, got the interior germ clean done and also purchased the Nomad mats. Will Post pics soon. The Nomad mats are real good, much better in terms of quality and usability when compared to the 3D mats. Total cost - 10k

Re: Tempest blue metallic VW Jetta DSG has arrived!

Guys,

I have a query on the AC cooling issue with the Jetta. I notice a delay( cool air ) when i first start the car, but i always rule it off under the impression that one or two minute delay is acceptable in any car.

The AC blows out air with a small order for the first 30 seconds and then runs as it should. I stall the car for about a minute or two daily as it is good for the engine. During this time i cant feel the cool air. So is this normal or should i get it checked ?

When parked it sun its a different story. The JET takes about 5 to 6 minutes before the cool air comes in which i guess is normal because of the already hot cabin.

Hello, I have the same issue, During every cold start the AC takes around 4-5 minutes or at times even more to start throwing cool air, Its a common problem in the jetta, And we both need to send the car to the service center and raise this issue, They will have to change a part, I can't really recollect the name of the part right now. My checkup is due after a couple of thousand km's, That's when i have planned to get this issue rectified.

I am still not convinced on this Tanveer. I somehow feel its not that apparent. Today the climate was really good, may be that was one reason why i could feel the cold air. I plan to test it once when the car is hot. Within the first 30 seconds i would know.

Speaking of niggles, Today there was water dripping onto the foot-board when i had opened the left side door. Does the water deposit on the window linings for all the other Jetta's or this something i should get checked ?

Re: Tempest blue metallic VW Jetta DSG has arrived!

Experienced the Monsoon's worst nightmare today.

The JET was parked at home and left unattended in the rain for more than 2 hours. Meantime, the drainage sump in the community failed and as a result there was a complete flush of water. It got so bad there was water everywhere (knee level). Now almost 15 cars were left drenched in water.

The JET is one among them. The entire floor of the car is completely wet. Had to start the car in water and pull it back. There was water inside the car. Had to take out the water using a mug. The seats aren't wet though.

Now, What is the best solution for this problem? Can you guys please suggest and help me with the below -

1. How can i get the floor dried ?
2. Any electrical failures i can expect ?
3. What all should i get checked if i have to take the car to the workshop ?

The car seems to start fine without any issues. For now.

What a way to witness monsoons when you are here on a vacation.

I'd say that get the car transported to the ASC via a flat bed truck rather than driving it wet! You just can not say what havoc the water/moisture is causing to the electricals inside the car.

You'll need to strip the interiors throughly to get the moisture out. Seats, carpet, plastic bits all need to come off except for the dashboard. A tricky problem but has to be done ASAP.

I know it isn't a viable way but why not contact 3M for some help and pointers?!

I had a word with the Manager, he says flat bed is not required. But i agree with you, driving it can be too risky.

Strip the what! No! This should not be happening. Isn't there any other solution for this ? I can't leave this to VW. They may do a good job, but i'm in no state of mind to let the stripping happen.

Decided to get a vaccum done and let the car dry. Will make sure it's not used for a couple of days till its dry.

VW has suggested to remove the entire matting and dry the car. They could not promise a snug fit, once removed and warned me check with my insurance for flood coverage. I have decided to live with it.

Running short of patience and time.

Wow, that's terrible man. I'm sure the aesthetic damage to the carpeting will be easily managed by 3M or the likes, but hope there's no electrical damage to the car. Hope it's all completely fine.

Re: Tempest blue metallic VW Jetta DSG has arrived!

Aw shucks! Really sorry to hear this Amar. Regarding the electrical parts - the harness for the car is routed through the plastic trims adjacent to the door sills but they shouldn't be a problem as they are insulated. Where is the Bluetooth module located? Is that under the co-driver seat? The default location is that and it might have gotten wet if that's where it is located.

How about the door cards? There are chances of water seepage if the water level was really high and I think it might be a good idea to have them removed and inspected. Shouldn't take much time as they are held by 6-7 clips on the card and a couple of screws. The connectors for the window controls need to be removed and they come off.

If there's ample sunlight right now and no signs of rains, leave the car outside with the windows rolled up leaving a small gap for the water to evaporate. Let it dry as much as possible.

Re: Tempest blue metallic VW Jetta DSG has arrived!

@ amarendranath : sorry about your situation. I think Anurag meant removing the seats, mats etc. to clean the whole floor to get rid of moisture and did not intend to rip open anything.

Also to avoid such instances in the future (at the least provide some amount of protection), better to get plastic floor liners installed for the car.

On a side note, on cars like Jetta, shouldn't the doors be water tight when shut and locked ? What will happen when the car is driven through a foot high stagnant water, can water seep into the cabin floor ?

I know, to my worst nightmare. I will lose the Extended warranty if the car is registered with a job card that has the word "Flood". If the control unit is wet under the car, My Extended warranty is void from today. Left the car at 3M.

Yes, it’s located in the same place. Unfortunately, the thermocol unit protecting the BT module has been removed by the driver, and kept aside. I hope there is not water inside the module.

I will ask the 3M guys to check the doors for any moisture, meantime will buy a room heater/blower as it may help. The fog lamps are completely filled with moisture. Running them for 15 to 20min will make the moisture evaporate is what the VW guys have suggested. Something had fallen off inside the radiator grille, I couldn’t snap a picture. Did not get any update from them on what that was.

They did not promise 100% fit and asked me to keep inform the insurance team. I am just getting the vaccum done at 3M.

This is the first time i had seen anything like this. I'm sure the water didn't come in from the doors. It's from beneath the car. And VW suggested to strip open the entire floor and clean everything.
