Purple Cheetah brought us safely and comfortably from Mussoorie to Nagpur. On the way, we crossed the once-dreaded Chambal valley at 1 am today.

For a next time to avoid 40 KM bad stretch from Rampur to Rudrapur, please use Rampur -> Baazpur -> Haldwani (Bypass)

While lunching at
Apni Haveli, Moradabad, I met another owner of XUV 500. When I asked him about that dreaded stretch, he told me that XUV 500 would easily do that bad stretch without any problem. So, knowing fully well, I drove on that wretched stretch!

The road side eateries on the North-South Corridor are mostly
dhabas. You have to manage with them. I don't recommend going inside the towns exclusively for eating and refuelling, as it will be time-consuming and will have bearing on your reaching destination in time. If you are staying in a town, then you can try some good local hotels like
Haldiram's at Nagpur.

Would the eateries be decent enough in the areas north of Nirmal?
|
Carry a lot of eatables, fruits, biscuits, dried fruits and nuts, fruit juice, etc. so that if you don't find a decent eatery, you don't have to starve. There are lots of decent eateries and
dhabas, especially on Delhi-Chandigarh/Moradabad/Roorkee/Agra sections. But, from Nagpur to Agra, the options are very less.

Yes. We visited the temple at 6 pm. It was crowded at that time.

How was the road from Ranikhet to Badrinath?
|
Ranikhet - Joshimath section was generally good. Joshimath - Badrinath section was terrible. There was a narrow, steep stretch near Hanuman Chatti with full of loose boulders and gravel, thanks to the recent rains. Many cars failed to climb that stretch. Purple Cheetah passed it at the second attempt with some push from the rear. While returning, P.Cheetah did it easily. There was a traffic jam on account of this struggle lasting more than half hour while going and returning.

Were you able to drive all the way to the temple or had to do a bit of trekking?

We drove to GMVN's Hotel Devlok and parked it there. The hotel is within the walkable distance from the temple. I found the parking at the temple choatic.
