Thanks for the wishes, fusionbang. Today, Purple Cheetah enjoys warmth in its den due to inclement weather at Chennai. I do have plans to take Purple Cheetah for a long ride, perhaps to the west coast, in the near future.

Sir, congratulations and happy birthday to your purple Cheetah. In a span of one year the Cheetah has been to 2/3 of India. Great going sir. Wish you many more successful and safe trips with your Cheetah.

Third Free Service @ 20 k km

Today, Purple Cheetah underwent the third free servicing at 20,131 km, costing ₹ 6,603 at India Garage, Chennai. I took appointment last week itself and reported at India Garage at 8:45 am today. However, Purple Cheetah was handed over back to me at 6:30 pm only. M/s Senthil Kumar, WM and David, RM took extra care of Purple Cheetah during servicing. I am thankful to them notwithstanding the delay. Engine oil, gear box oil, oil/fuel/HVAC filters were replaced. I paid the bill by cash - as India Garage charges 2% extra for card payment - afterwhich, my fat wallet became slim and cute like a Bollywood actress.

What do "Consumable charges" under the Labour heading mean?

As the name suggests, it is for the consumables used for servicing. India Garage charged me ₹ 500 + tax for the first free service and ₹ 350 + tax for the second and third free services. Even FIAT A S S charged ₹ 120 + tax in July 2013 for my erstwhile Linea and Royal Enfield A S S billed me ₹ 112 + tax in Jan 2014 for my Thunderbird 500. It has become a common thing now, I think. All said and done, it is economical to maintain XUV 500. I spent ₹ 7 k + for 3 free services and 20 k km+ until June 2011 for my erstwhile petrol Linea. Compared to that, spending ₹ 11 k after 3.5 years for a bigger and more powerful diesel vehicle definitely proves less maintenance cost for XUV 500.

Chennai-Bangalore Drive - Non-Stop, As Usual!

Purple Cheetah brought us safely and comfortably to our Bangalore Basaveswara Nagar home at 3:45 am today. We left Chennai Royapettah home last night at 10:30 pm. I enjoyed my brisk driving on the beautiful 6-lane NH 46 between Ranipet and Krishnagiri. I didn't give a hoot about fuel efficiency.

Awesome thread there J Ravi.

Too bad that I had missed it for so long.
The DIY you did to remove reflections is quite neat and novice.
I also intend to incorporate that on my ride.

I should compliment the dedication and intricate details with which you maintain your thread. Not to mention the excel sheet.
Quite impressed!

I wish I could also maintain an excel sheet like that.
Seems I do not have that much of discipline

Dear Ravi,

Can you please let me know the device you have used to check the battery voltage? Where can I buy one?

Dealextreme. Here is the link. The product will be delivered by ordinary post in 20 days. It's a Chinese product, but serving alright since August 2013.

re: Mahindra XUV500 W8 FWD: My Pet Purple Cheetah EDIT: Sold!

Car-keeping continued today. There were some scratches on the bumper. After treating them with the Du Pont scratch repair stick presented by my daughter, the bumper looks better now.
