In all the online insurance portals, IDV is automatically calculated after the brand, model, version, place and date of registration details are entered. Yes, it is around that figure only.

I had an experience of an insurance company quoting less insurance premium by significantly reducing IDV

The difference between the IDVs calculated by Royal Sundaram and Oriental was around ₹ 5,000 only.

re: Mahindra XUV500 W8 FWD: My Pet Purple Cheetah EDIT: Sold!

Mr.Ravi, Congrats for your purple cheetah. Sorry for my belated wishes as I joined the forum recently but I was following all of your posts for quite some time. I admire the way you take care of your XUV. I also like your Chennai - Bangalore trip logs as I have experienced and enjoyed it many times couple of years ago.

For me XUV is love at first sight. I couldn't take my eyes off whenever I see one. I will pick one in a couple of months. Looking forward for the exciting journey.

Chennai>Pondy>Chennai

Today, Purple Cheetah had a busy day visiting Puducherry [Pondy] and returning to HQ. We left Adayar, Chennai at 6:15 am, breakfasted at Aarya's Garden at Tindivanam bypass from 8:15 am to 9:00 am, reached Pondy at 9:30 am, completed my works, visited Manakula Vinayakar temple, left the Ashram BP pump at 1:30 pm after having tankful of diesel for Purple Cheetah costing ₹ 55.03/litre and reached Chennai Royapettah home by 4:15 pm. I paid for tolls for multiple trips on fully 4-laned NH 45/66 for both up and down trips. The fuel efficiency was less due to intra city drive both at Chennai and Pondy.

Ravi Sir. One of the best SUV from Mahindra's stable to have this low maintenance, premium, VFM car and it is really unbelievable to see you have spent under 5K in a year. I am waiting to get my hands on this beauty

Chennai>Sholayar Dam>Athirapilly Falls>Chennai In 28.33 Hours

Purple Cheetah brought me and the missus safely and comfortably to our Chennai Royapettah home today at 7:25 am after a 1338 km-long whirlwind drive covering Sholayar Dam and Athirapilly Falls.

I had solo-ridden to the same places last year on my Thunderbird 500. The details are here.

We left there at 6:15 pm, bought hot banana chips and halwa at Vadakkancherry, dined, refuelled and started our return trip by 10:30 pm last night from BP COCOO at Madukkarai, near Coimbatore. En route, I had two power-naps of 30 minutes each.

Enjoyed your update. NH45 looks different and sure it looks lovely. What a whirl wind tour. Every time I see such tour reports of you I am astonished (to say the least) about from where you get energy to do things at your age. You inspire me to try such outings at least once. But I can not do it in two days and sure would need a companion who also knows driving . All the best. Keep revving and keep posting.

Lovely pictures Ravi. I grew up on those tea estates as my dad managed one of them - Waterfalls where you stopped for tea ! The ghats up to Valparai are brilliant. Pity I was too young to drive then, although I could make out dad was having a lot of fun. We had the Fiat Uno 1.7 diesel and boy did that car climb. It used to climb up the ghat in 3rd & 4th gear !!

Excellent pictures Ravi sir . Your travelogues are inspiring and it motivates me to do such trips. Photos are wonderful and good to know your purple Cheetah is serving you well. You have proved that age is just a number and what's more important is passion to drive. Lesson to learn from you. Thanks again. Keep them coming.
