Ravi Sir, after reading your thread, a statement made by Dr. Pawan Goenka during one of our annual meetings in Nasik came to our mind - "After a house, a car is the second most precious thing a person buys in his life".

Although an ex M&M R&D Engineer, I am no fan of XUV, but I liked reading your thread, thanks for sharing.

Thanks a lot for the information, live2drive. Next time, I will insist on paper filters.

Oh, that's an excellent suggestion, narayans80. I have done Trichy-Dindigul route recently during my Kodaikanal trip on my Thunderbird 500. I will follow your tip for the next southern trip. Thanks for the very practical tip.

India Garage is the best of all the 3, IMO.

Since the oil replacement is specified for 20 k km service, I decided to follow the manufacturer's spec.

20K is simply too long for that oil.AFAIK its not even semi synthetic
Its same for the Scorpio and the Thar, but still i would recommend that you stick to 10K intervals, and since your XUV is relatively new,it would have been better if you had changed oil now and then at 20K;off course in the end its your choice.

re: Mahindra XUV500 W8 FWD: My Pet Purple Cheetah EDIT: Sold!

Hi Ravi - how are the kagu mats holding up? I went for the 3m meshed ones for my purple cheetah, but they keep slipping and feel horrible on bare feet. Was wondering how the max spuds are holding up. Also, can you pls share where you brought them from?

Gracie!!!

I am fully satisfied with 3D Kagu Maxpider mats although they are expensive. Earlier, my erstwhile Linea too had these mats. The details are here. In Bangalore, you can buy them from Hot Tracks.

Ravi saar, i strongly suggest you get a oil and filter change done before your Leh trip. Stock oil is mineral and will lose its performing ability after 6-7K kms. I would recommend changing mineral oil at 5K intervals to keep the engine happy and in top notch condition

Ladakh & HP Trip Update

Notwithstanding the bad weather prevailing in Kashmir and Ladakh, Purple Cheetah is scheduled to start its expedition to Ladakh and HP from our Chennai home in another few minutes. It's time to fill in the blank cells in the following statement.

Purple Cheetah ready to take off.

My fully loaded Purple Cheetah.

If the weather god decides not to permit us to visit Kashmir and Ladakh, we will resort to Plan B, which includes HP and Rajasthan, the places that are not affected by bad weather.
