Well said. These 3 are clear advantages and you also pay less for Duster.

Height adjustment has 3 settings. I use the middle one and I am happy. Do it slow and careful, it will lock in the middle position. Regarding the 5th passenger, once the 5th passenger sits, it is comfortable than many cars. The rear seats are very wide. The issue is in sitting and getting out but not in travelling. My solution for wind noise is to turn on the music a little bit.

Can you please share the cost ? Does the steering audio and phone controls work with Caska ?

Re: Renault Duster : Blowing the Dust

Congrats on your Duster - its one of the better SUVs around. I was very much interested in this SUV but the waiting period is a put off. Also now with the price increase, I feel that its no longer a VFM.

All said and done - its still a great buy and wish you many happy miles with your duster.

Re: Renault Duster : Blowing the Dust

Congratulations on the Duster. The Duster is selling like hot cakes! I too might be a Duster owner soon.

Was there an option for a front nudge guard as an official accessory?
Here is a picture of the same, looks fantastic IMO.

As per the accessory guy in Chennai, this is an imported item by Renault (he was speculating 1 lakh as cost).
Guess the specs have gone out and once we find local vendor it will be available.

The dealer in Chennai kind of discouraged not to go for it and was pushing the simple reverse parking sensor to me. How much the Caska system cost? I too am very much interested in getting one. thanks
I got the caska installed at the dealership and they informed me it is available when my vehicle went for first service. 48 k approximate cost will confirm once i get the final bill sir.

I too had a strong feeling about the door, renault has done a very big mistake first impression when opening the door is negative. Caska works perfectly well. The music quality has improved a lot by adding a tweeter and replacing front speakers. The navigation works perfectly well, the maps are from mapmy india and it is good. Only problem i face is in bright sunlight the visibility of the caska display is poor.

Thanks for the information i was misguided when i took test drive about the height adjustment. Middle one fits perfect for me too. A/c blower is reducing the comfort of the middle passenger. I too turn the music on for the wind noise it works. Caska works perfectly with the phone controls & audio controls in steering. I am yet to receive the bills but approximate cost quoted was 48 k will confirm once i get the bill.

Many many congrats & wishing you happy miles.
I am also awaiting delivery of white Duster, but dealer is refusing to deliver at pre price hike. I booked on 8th of July.
That HU is looking fantastic, though a bit costly IMO.
If we go for HU change in the aftermarket, will it void the warranty?
How much you pay for Dual tone Hella horns?

But the right side fender was bent and the i10 remained perfect without even any scratch marks on it.
It looks like a hard knock - the fender panel appears to have been knocked out of alignment and so has the bumper - the damage seems to be more than superficial - I have encircled the areas which clearly show changes in panel gaps and alignments.

The i10 was parked and i parked my Duster just behind its left end and my friend reversed his car looking on to his right without noticing the duster and it was pretty slow impact.

Such an incident results in a very minimal impact, unless your friend gunned the accelerator. May be, Renault took cost cutting to the bone.

Unfortunately, Duster in India may not be as tough as it looks...

Re: Renault Duster : Blowing the Dust

Guys it might be a slow impact - but this looks like its been "pressed" in or "pushed" in and not hammered in. When metal or plastic is pressed - it warps.

Re: Renault Duster : Blowing the Dust

One of my friend doing 80Km/h on highway has hit a dog which resulted in damaging his front bumper fully as well the radiator according to him he who owns a Innova for a long time the material used in Duster are very flimsy and he is afraid to take it for long drives again.

The Irony is i have bought Duster purely for long trips! Can any one post the crash tests done for Duster and its safety worthiness results?

Exactly that is what happened, the car backed up and the bumper went inside on impact and the side fender was exposed and it bent a little.

It has achieved 3 star in the euro safety rating and i hope the plastics and sheet metal used there would have been better for the dusters so no idea if Indian dusters are subjected to crash test

I heard some one in this forum mentioning Dusters produced here are to be exported to UK from Jan of 2013 is it true? then will they using a different sets of bumpers for the export models?

I am wondering how an SUV which is to be used roughly by nature been using flimsy materials for the construction of the bumpers. Is this also a cost cutting act by Renault or an deliberate one imposed on Indians alone? If so its very much condonable.
