A warm hello to Team-BHPians, Govind here from Trivandrum

Hello All,

I am Govind, from God's own country, married and having two school going kids, living in Trivandrum (KL-01/22), will be completing 44 trips around the Sun by next month. Working as a technical architect in IT - embedded systems, previously in automotive domain and later moved to broadcast and will be going back to automotive soon!

I have been an ardent follower of Team-BHP for more than a decade, and almost all my ownership decisions were based on the reviews and discussions here. So rather than someone introducing me to Team-BHP, it was there with me almost ever since I started reading more about automobiles and Indian auto industry. Now part of this and super excited about it.

I enjoy long rides, business travels, exploring new places, meeting people and listening to them. As part of other hobbies, most of my time is spent on reading/watching travel related blogs/vlogs, discussions and on my writings (mostly unpublished).

Started my automobile journey with an RX 135 in 2000 (black 5 speed) owned it till 2013, owned a Royal Enfield Thunderbird from 2007 to 2010, briefly owned one RD350 in 2010, Yamaha Ray in 2013, and now own a Triumph Bonneville A3 Lunar Silver from 2016. The bikes I sold were due to unplanned long term work related transfers. Hoping that I can keep my Bonnie for a long time. The first thing I did when I started my IT career was to start a PPF account to buy the Triumph classic!

Currently own a WagonR Duo LXi (Solid White) from 2007, gifted myself an Ertiga ZDi in 2013 (White) and in 2021 upgraded from Ertiga to Innova Crysta 2.8ZX AT (Garnet Red).

I am quite happy with my current garage, though planning to add an adventure tourer to the squad and waiting for some of the new releases to hit the Indian market and get the first-hand review here, as I have a few pending items in my checklist. This is one of the main reasons to join the Team-BHP forum. Coincidentally, did test ride a CB500X in the morning and got the exciting 'Team-BHP Membership APPROVED!' mail in the evening.

Here is my Bonnie next to the Honda CB500X that I test rode in the morning.

Thank you all and hope to meet some of you.

/Govind

You'll find many people here who share your interests. I'm sure you've been through our Travelogues section.

Some nice bikes there. I was a big fan of the RD350. Love the Bonnie as well.

All very practical cars. Do put up ownership reviews of them. Nothing helps other car owners like ownership reviews.

The CB500X has become a very good option to consider after the recent price correction. I am sure you must have checked out the forum discussion on the bike.

See you on the forum.

Welcome to TeamBHP fellow townsman.

I may have seen your Bonneville couple of times, if you had ridden it to the south side of the city.

That is a solid garage there, and wish to see your ownership report of the Bonneville and 2.8 soon.

Thank you very much. I never had to join since whenever I had some query in mind I would just search and find the answer in the forum itself making me no need to join.

I got the RD as an exchange program with my Thunderbird and the specific piece that I owned was not an exciting one. Though I sold the Thunderbird later, the bike is still in my name and not traceable . The buyer didn't (or I could not) change ownership and I had to go abroad. Recently requested our RTO to blacklist the same and he said nothing can be done apart from blacklisting it and if any liability comes, that will come to me. So chasing the path!

Yes reading all the discussions here and is the sole reason for joining the forum. CB500X is lighter in handling, poses better ergonomics for long rides, though the difference is felt in power delivery as I come from Bonnie. Also felt Bonnie listens to me in a batter way during corners, and this might be because I am familiar with that machine.

Welcome to the forum, Govind. A nice garage you have got there, and I believe I may have noticed the Bonnie out on our roads.

Trivandrum dealership is giving the CB500X for test rides? I thought there is only one vehicle there, for display purposes.

Thank you! We have an active Travancore Riders Association of Triumph (T-RATS) and might have seen many of us during coffee meet-ups. It is a small world over here and next time please wave your hands.

Trivandrum showroom has only one - the display bike. They are not giving any test rides. What I heard from them is that they will be selling only that one and not even entertaining booking the other (red) colour.

My T-RATS friend got a CB500X from the nearby showroom for a week for us to test ride and evaluate.
