I’m back!

During my engineering college days over a decade and a half back, I used to be hooked on Overdrive, Autocar, and Top Gear. I think it was soon after 2006, fresh out of college, or maybe a few years later, I was a member of Team-BHP researching my first ride, soon to be a proud owner of a 1.5L Ford Figo. I admit I just used to refer to Team-BHP for the DIY and potential upgrades but never posted.

The years hence saw me drag race between stoplights at Bangalore; devour Overdrive, Autocar, Top Gear, and slowly move on to Car & Driver, Road & Track, and Classic Mercedes. As I wizened in years, I moved to DIY projects and minor car mods on my W-163, ML 500, and mbworld.org, benzworld.org, and Team-BHP were my partners in crime.

The pandemic gave me time and tied me indoors. Finally, I decided to stop procrastinating and blog about my poor man’s BMW, a driver's delight (1.6L, Ford Fiesta classic) and the wheels that Jurassic park chose- the true blood, body on frame, luxury SUV (5L, v8, Mercedes ML500 -W163). But I was unable to get in with the old email id I could remember. I never logged in, I just browsed and never posted, so I’m probably to blame.

Well, I’m back!

P.S. The dream car then and now, the 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500 ‘Eleanor’. The dream road, the Autobahn. Montana chose speed limits at the turn of the century . What a way to start a century!

Re: I’m back!

Welcome onboard Harvestor03,

I hope that your second innings on the forum will be more engaging, I also happen to be a Ford Fiesta Classic fan, got it as my first car though in the 1.4 Duratec form.

It would be helpful if you can add some pics of your rides in the thread.

Hope that you have a wonderful time here!

My rides!

My rides. Thank you for asking!

The original Fiesta was the affordable driver's car. I think both my Figo and the Fiesta ran the same excellent diesel engine. Now coming to think of it, it might have been a 1.4L.

My first love (First blood! Courtesy Stallone): Ford Figo

A driver's delight: Ford Fiesta classic. (Kept digging for a better snap, but they all have loved ones covering up the car! Lol!)

The wolf in sheep's clothing: Mercedes M class - ML500 -W163. I’m living out a whim, with a naturally-aspirated, 5-liter, v8, while they are still legal in a world that is heading toward downsized turbocharged or electric engines. Affording this petrol guzzler requires a land where petrol is cheaper than bottled water. The ML-500 (V8, 4966 cc, 288 hp) is my compromise with boot space for family shopping and two car seats, while never feeling inadequate on the interstate.

Last blood! The next one will be a sensible MUV. The 2020 Innova Crysta GX/VX considering its practical third row & 2.7-liter engine looks good. But then the 2020 Thar LX does tug at my heartstrings even as I type this out.

Re: I’m back!

Welcome back!!

Eagerly waiting on your fiesta report!
Spend a bunch of my childhood years in a Fiesta and love the car with all my heart.
Equally excited for the Merc, Old is indeed gold!

Post a lot of stuff this time around maybe?

Between the ML & the Fiesta

The Ford Fiesta is a gem that will never lost its shine !

The Merc ML is gold indeed (A non-lemon ML to be precise). The V6 ML-320/350s (V6, 3724 cc, 232 hp) got me hooked, but it was the V8’s that blew me away: the ML-500 (V8, 4966 cc, 288 hp) and the ML-55 AMG (V8, 5439 cc, 342 hp). I bought a car that was over a decade old. And the love affair with my ML500 is still fresh after a few years. I justify the slightly higher annual maintenance of the ML over the annual depreciation of a new Toyota, as the price of love.

I should do a post on my DIY projects on the ML . Yup and certainly the Fiesta if its not already done!

Thank you!
Yes, they are in different cities.

Nice profile pic! I am sure Honda never though of advertising its trunk space the way you have done 😉
