Finally a Team-BHP member!

Hey Guys, Im a new member on Team BHP

Introduction

My father is a car enthusiast and so am I. We’ve only owned petrol cars till date. Its 2020 and till a week back I was happy driving a 1999 Mitsubishi Lancer. Octavia (MK1) has been my dream car since my childhood. I just loved the shape and found it really appealing, ( the looks, the front bonnet and everything)
I was always after my father to get one. I didn't have much idea about the variants, petrol or diesel neither did I have any idea about the VRS.

2 Years back a friend of mine got a used 2018 octavia vrs. The first time I sat into that car, I was in love with it. I was too desperate to get one but didn’t have the money as I had just graduated and I knew my father wouldn't get one.

My father was always skeptical about buying skoda’s don’t know why but just didn't seem to like them.
So one fine day I was just browsing the internet where I came across this post on Team-bhp about ocatvia vrs MK1. I didn't know that there was a vrs available back then too. I found out more and more and by the year 2019 it was my dream car already but never knew if I’d ever get it. I used to keep telling my father about it but he just ignored me told me to be happy with my Lancer.

Exactly 3 weeks back I saw a 2005 used VRS ad on OLX, the car had done 70000 kms on the odometer and looked really good in the pictures ( colour was black ). I just wanted that car, and I thought of asking my father for the one last time. I shared the olx link to him on whatsapp and asked him if I can get it!?

For the first time, instead of directly cutting the topic off he said let’s see and I was on cloud nine already
The car was in Poona so I searched for a few more options and I found another vrs in yellow colour with 75k kms and a euro spec 180 bhp remap. My father was convinced to see the car and since both the cars were in Poona we decided to go gave a look in a few days. Until then I had read almost all the posts about the MK1 vrs here on Team BHP and I planned to register on TEAM BHP.

In a week we went to Poona to see the cars. The first one that we saw was a yellow colour vrs. The car was not at all in a clean state. After the test drive, the power was amazing but the suspension had a lot of noise, the car was not maintained at all and was ripped to a next level and the owner quoted 2L, but it wasn't worth it.
Now we decided to see the black one. The guy was quoting 3 lakhs for it and my father wasn't ready to pay that much but still I convinced him to have a look.

We went to see it to the owners office and as I reached the parking lot I could see the black beauty. It was shining, looked amazing from the exterior ( clean and polished ). Took a test drive, it was in stock condition and my father was too happy with the way the car had been kept. Now with our budget being 2L we asked the owner his last price and he quoted 2.6L and after all the negotiations it was finalised at 2.25 L and the owner also agreed to get the insurance, green tax and the PUC done.

The car being 15 years old ( Green Tax had to be paid).

My dream had come true finally. We didn't take the car right away and we waited for the NOC and other formalities. Came back home that evening and I was already too happy! So I get a mail that my TEAM BHP membership is approved too and man I had an adrenaline rush. I haven't got the car yet but shall get it in a day or two.

This is my first post on Team BHP and its a bit too long a you may find it boring too but yes thats my story. I am open to any suggestions regarding this post, the car and anything else you think I need to know.

Thank you

Welcome to the forum krsna_ksh !

This particular vRS from Pune has been a regular sight at the city's popular eateries and hotels like Balewadi High Street, JW Marriott and Camp area. I had seen this particular car multiple times in and around Pune. It has always looked amazing and clean inside out.

I had once checked with the owner as well if he had plans to sell this car, but he was not ready to sell it back then (probably the year was 2016).

Congratulations for acquiring this beauty. Wish you many happy miles with this one.
