This was posted a month back on M5 Board. And it sounds Friggin Hot to me :

Together with my Dubai business partners, I am launching a new street rally format called "Ultimate Rally" in 2006. Seven days, 5000 kilometers, and $2 mio prize money. 4 checkpoints, 1 finishline. The first 3 cars share $150.000 CASH at every checkpoint (100K, 30K, 20K) and $1.4 mio at the finish line ($1 mio, 250K, 150K). Advanced GPS & UMTS handhelds will be used to track all cars in realtime (speed & routing statistics). This will prevent cheating and all drivers receive the routes at the same time. We are now working on the legal aspects to protect the organizers. Watch out for the launch of http://www.ultimaterally.com by the end of this year and start spreading the word.

I like to hear your questions, opinions, suggestions and criticism. Thank you,
Kimble

Though I dont think it'll be as successful as GumBall if they to thru with it. What say?

Hey PS

Yes i'd read bout this on M5 board a month back myself. Yes, so far it seems true that it might just happen. And with Kimble behind the wheel i dont doubt that this business venture might have an outcome. With street car racing across some 5000 kilometers they wanna run the cars in countries where speed limited areas are few (like eastern european countries like Poland), new high speed autobahns have come up and also where small bribes can be paid rather than getting tickets.

My suggestion for anyone running the race here in TB is... dont run unless u have a Porsche! No offence to anyone who likes/loves/worships other cars but what Porsches have is reliability and ability to run at high speeds for long distances w/o overheating/knocking etc. The last Gumball saw a Porsche GT2 run at 208 mph top speed while consistently doing speeds around 180 mph. While Ferraris did run at those speeds but just after running for a few tens of miles at high speeds they needed attention while the Porsches just zoomed by. Which means lesser stops and lesser time wasted.

Guys ultimate rally's website is up and running.

Ultimate Rally Homepage

100 cars will be allowed and 2 members per car. Entry fee is approx $30,000 for car and co-driver inclusive of stay, transportaion of car and airfare to starting point. 5 routes have been chosen and one of those routes will be chosen at the last minute as the route for the rally.

Total prize money: $2 million.
No.1 driver takes a maximum of $1 million home.

Sounds pretty darn interesting. Read the whole event and its regs on the site.
