Awesome thread and very good pics too!
A rare F40 thundering down the straight, would have made quite some noise from those turbo v8s!
Somehow i always get confused between the 924,944 and 968 never could remember which one is which!
Quirky 914 but i will take the cream "04" 930 please.

Excellent thread.

Oh! I so miss the Bavarian country side. When will we [read India] have such events in our backyard [every city should have a track]. Ok, please lets have a kart track please.

wholeheartedly!

I can't imagine being there! Listening to a dozen flat-six-pack motors firing up and being flogged around the track; not to mention a light sprinkling of V8s and 4-potters. It must be heaven!

The 930 would be my pick as well! It wears beautiful wheels, that. It's not hard to notice that 'Vettes are popular track-tools as well! That also could be due to the low-cost body panels(?)

Keep 'em coming Avi!

I had to drive all the way to the back of the racetrack to take better pix..like the ones above..

The route was via in roads..pretty scenic.

I then parked my car up the hill and walked all around the various interesting turns.

My gawd, you lucky guy you! Those are some stunning shots. What exactly was your location around the track, and which camera do you use? People always talk of how amazing Ferraris sound at high rpms. Well, I have to say Porsches are right up there....while the Ferrari pipes are exotic, there's something very mechanical & precise about Porsche's on the redline.

How about info on the day's highlights? Who was the quickest? Any incidents? That Nissan GT-R had guts to come to a Porsche track day. Bet everyone tried to lick him (unsuccessfully?)

Your thread has made its way to our homepage. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks GTO..I'm glad you guys liked it...I drove all around the track (via inroads) and took pix but for the most part, it was the turn 1 ,turn 6 and 7.
The camera was a Canon T1i/500D with 18-55mm lens.

very well said. the porsches do sound phenomenal when redlined but then sports exhaust must. there is a distinct difference in the engine notes between the Italian and german engines.

this was not a competition. It was organized by Porsche club of america for Porsche owners of Alabama region and it had varied skill levels divided into groups 1 thru 4. groups 1 and 2 have instructors ride with them teaching the racing lines.

No timings..insurance issues. the moment this event gets timed, then the regular insurance immediately goes invalid. this is a loophole.

The Nissan GT-R's (3) drove in group 2 and therefore, were not run at their prime. This event, although organised by Porsche, was open for all sports cars on registering with SCCA (sports cars club of america).

That is one hell of a track day man! This is one of the few circuits not to have any serious curves. Just flowing corners everywhere. Great to see all sorts of cars there. The CTS-V seems to be the only one on the track.
What has been done to the CTS-V's lights?

Wow... amazing thread and awesome pictures there. I stayed in Atlanta (Alpharetta to be precise) for few years and never knew about this track. Expecting to see the pictures of your camry burning some rubber :-).

Fantastic report dude. Some of those parked cars look like they're in transcendental motion.
Wonder when Indian car manufacturers will pick a leaf from their global counterparts.
Or should enthusiasts like us, take the wheel into our own hands?

You are one lucky guy!! And those are some really nice shots with a 18-55.....great job!!!

I maybe jumping the gun here but if the F1 track opens up next year, and manages to survive, such track days will soon be a reality.
