Nope. I could be way off. But it did look like a race track for sure!

Re: Updates on the Indian F1 track (Buddh International Circuit)

I am sorry, but 4 people actually think its a track!!!

You can definitely race on that track, but you would need two very important ingredients. One is a hull, and two is a propeller.

i feel its a river/stream.
It seems to be water with all the greenary on its banks.

It definitely isn't a track, cause there is absolutely no run-off or anything even resembling a viewing place or something.

You are probably correct, it was a very overwhelming view whilst on a passenger flight and this was when the aircraft was closing in on Delhi, so thought it could be the track.
Thanks for the clarification mate!

Was sort of hoping for something more exotic.

But have a look at the satellite view near the jaypee circuit on satellite view.
some of the meandering of yamuna fits your picture.

Just saw the 2012 calendar, race in India planned on 22nd April.

How do they expect people to come at the stands during those summer months?

I was thinking about the same thing. I WAS excited about the India GP, but the heat is going to be too much to handle (unless god almighty decided to hand me a ticket to the various AC box). I think I will give it a miss and rather sit in some sports cafe. April in Delhi would be a bit too much!

Re: Updates on the Indian F1 track (Buddh International Circuit)

The 2012 calendar is still not fixed, there are many proposals, by FOM, FOCA etc and the final calender should take a few more months to finalise.

The Asian GPs are held either at the start of the season, or towards the end. But next year we have two new GPs, Korea and the US GPs. Thus these two will be given late slots. Thus may be the Indian GP will have to move towards April/May, at least for next year. There are also constraints for timing of the European GPs.

After the 1st year, teams would like to bunch up the Korean and Chinese GPs, so may be the Indian GP would be able to regain its October slot.

Re: Updates on the Indian F1 track (Buddh International Circuit)

^ Korea is not new. There was already a Korean GP last year, and this year also it is in the calendar. Only US GP is new and if we include Bahrain total goes up to 21. Turkey may get axed, bringing the number down to 20.

Bahrain usually had slot in the first part of the season, but is pushed to November in 2012 calendar, which should have been the slot for Indian GP.

So basically Indian GP and Bahrain GP have swapped slots.
