No offence, but is there a Mexican amongst us? Cause no one else would have voted for Perez!

Just to set the context, we are voting for Formula one driver of the year for 2024. Not “entertainer of the year” and neither is it a “farewell award of the year” ( the daniel Ricciardo votes). And whats worse, someone even voted for Lance Stroll ( probably because his father signed Adrian newey for 2026, but thats a different award my friend ). Lastly someone also voted for Jack Doohan ( maybe the voter misunderstood this as a vote for best new star kid 2024, sorry this isn’t Bollywood).

Once again, Sorry if that sort of offended anyone, and to each his own, but as an ardent F1 fan i couldn’t understand the rationale behind some of the votes, either it was done in jest or pure ignorance of F1.

Anyway, im a hardcore Ferrari fan for 2-3 decades now, and even i cannot get myself to vote for anyone else apart from Max. He is a racer, full of raw talent. Sure, he has made mistakes, made some questionable moves, but these were very few instances. Schumacher and Senna had similar traits, they were relentless and sometimes went over the line, even if was only marginal.

The way Max came thru the field in Brazil and in the rain, im sorry there is just no better driver at the moment. Lewis did have a spectacular drive in the British Grand prix, but definitely not comparable circumstances when you compare Max’s drive in Brazil.

At no:2, and I was tempted to vote for Leclerc for his epic wins in Monza and Monaco, but as a driver he made some errors and Sainz kept him honest thru the season. But one thing is for sure, Leclerc can take the fight to Max, if he has the right car. And he is a beast in qualifying, no denying that. Also, he seems to have vastly improved on his tyre management skills, which will bode him well for the future.


3rd—Norris, he should have ideally taken this away from Max. The championship as well as this poll, Mclaren had the car and Norris did very well, and he will learn how to fight with Max post this season’s battles, but he seemed to back out a bit at times. A bit overawed by Max, probably.

4th—Piastri is also a real find, i see him fighting at the top next year, given Mclaren’s current form.

Rounding off my Top 5 is the smooth operator—Sainz. He lost the contract at Ferrari even before the season had begun, and he had no seat confirmation for nearly 2/3rd of the season. Redbull, Mercedes turned him down, but what a year he had, given all these circumstances! So much so that many critics even questioned Ferrari for leaving him out and choosing a visibly demotivated Lewis.

Hope we have much closer battles in 2025!

It has to be Max. The way he won the Brazilian Grand Prix from P17 was just remarkable.

Max, without a shadow of doubt! The second half of the season was evidence of his sheer talent, when the car was not the best one on the grid. Looking forward to 2025.
