After two weeks of intense racing through Saudi Arabia, TVS Sherco rider Harith Noah created history by becoming the first Indian to win the Rally 2 class at the Dakar Rally.



Noah finished four minutes ahead of second-placed Romain Dumontier and 11th overall, missing out on a top-10 finish by just 6 minutes.

At the end of Stage 6, the TVS Sherco rider was 13th overall and had secured P11 by the end of Stage 8. Noah set the fastest times in Stage 8 and Stage 10 of the rally.



Noah is the third Indian rider after KP Aravind and CS Santosh to participate in the Dakar Rally.

Hero Motorsports' Ross Branch secured second place overall in the bikes category.

Some of my motorcycling friends had the privilege of meeting Harith Noah earlier today. He happened to be seated at the table next to theirs. When my friends asked Harith if they could take a picture with him, he immediately asked them if they would like to do so with his Dakar trophy! My friends were over the moon. Not only did they get to interact with and take photographs with Harith, but they also got to closely examine his trophy.

If only more of our sporting heroes were as down to earth as Harith Noah!

Its was a great achievement for Indian contingent in this year's Dakar. And I like to know more about Noah's RTR 450. How it was developed and did their partnership with BMW played any role. We know much more info on Hero's bike but nothing much on TVS. And I am curios about this too, when two Indian company are participating in Dakar for many years and what will be the reason for both shying away from launching a ADV 450 in home market or are they using these platform only to develop and test new system. Its is a proud moment seeing our Hero sharing podium with Honda in global stage.

TVS-BMW Partnership only for mass production of bikes. TVS using the 310 for races in India and Asia one make championships. For Dakar TVS partnered with Sherco like Hero did with Speedbrain. TVS participated officially from 2015 but the last two years they are sponsoring only to Harith Noah with Sherco Racing. TVS used the sherco 450 with few modifications for the Indian rally events for sometime, now they are developing and testing bikes based on 310 platform.

Actually there is another Indian who has participated in this year's as well as the 2021 event: Ashish Raorane. He failed to finish both times though
