Re: The 2024 MotoGP Season

News Feed

The Summer break is much needed for the teams and their riders but it is an achingly agonising wait for us MotoGP fans! Sachsenring feels like a decade ago.

I cannot wait for the circus to return at Silverstone in less than 10 days' time and looking forward to the 75 years of MotoGP celebrations at the legendary racetrack.

Meanwhile, here's a summary of the past couple of weeks -

1) Pecco Bagnaia is now married!

Pecco Bagnaia has married his long-term partner Domizia Castagnini, who's a regular in the Ducati Lenovo paddock. Amongst the guests were Valentino Rossi, Luca Marini, Franco Morbidelli, Marco Bezzecchi and Enea Bastianini.

2) Summer Break Shenanigans

Johann Zarco became a rookie winner of the Suzuka 8 hours with TeamHRC. Rather than enjoying a weekend off during the summer break, Zarco was taking part in the famous endurance motorcycle race in Japan, teaming alongside Takumi Takahashi and Teppei Nagoe.

Pecco Bagnaia has also hinted that he will enter a future edition of the Suzuka 8 Hours.

Elsewhere, Jack Miller has used the MotoGP summer break to take part in a ‘bucket list race’ in the Australian ProMX Motocross Championship. The Red Bull KTM rider finished just outside of the points in 23rd and 24th places in the MX1 class at Echo Valley, in Toowoomba, Queensland.

3) Trackhouse tease rider announcement

Trackhouse Racing is on the verge of revealing the first of its rider signings for the 2025 MotoGP season, after posting on social media: “I think we found our guy.”.

While Raul Fernandez is expected to stay with mutual interest, it is the curious case of Miguel Oliveira that is intriguing. Miguel finally hit form on his RS-GP in Sachsenring and Trackhouse did mention that they wanted to retain him in the team despite rival teams scouting for the Portuguese rider as well.

However, the social media announcement didn't have the feel of a renewal-type of announcement but rather like the arrival of a new rider to the team. Moto2 Kalex rider, Joe Roberts has been linked with a move to Trackhouse several times with the assumption that the American team would back an American rider. But, Trackhouse has also maintained that they are looking for performance first and are not there just to be a junior team to train up young riders so, Joe Roberts move doesn't quite add up.

Jack Miller, currently without a ride, could be the potential candidate to fill the seat with tonnes of experience spread across different manufacturers.

It is just a matter of time before the announcement is made.

Re: The 2024 MotoGP Season

Very true.

I get "withdrawals" when the summer break happens. Due to the forced break due to the cancellation, there were sort of two breaks. This made it even worse.

Cheers

Thank you for your regular updates Porschefire.

Jack Miller is heavily linked with a move to Gresini Ducati with Marc Marquez saying he would be great for the team along with his brother Alex. Seems like a done deal but there no major publication carrying the story nor anything from the man himself.

Truly this summer break is excruciatingly painful for us fans. Can’t wait for the fun and games to begin.

Cheers

I thought Aldeguer might go to Gresini as he is already under contract and Pramac has exited Ducati. VR46 riders most likely Diggia and Morbidelli with the former getting the GP25 (or both perhaps, but Morbidelli will be better off adapting to the GP24 which he is currently riding afetr missing all the testing time earlier in the season).

And going by THR's social media, they seem to be going for a rider outside the current GP line up, mist likely Roberts since Dorna/Liberty Media will heavily back up an American rider entry in an American team for that boost they desperately need in the USA. Let's see how it unfolds.

But yeah, this break is excruciatingly long, wish Dorna could reduce Videopass charges so that we could enjoy more content from the MotoGP app instead of just during the weekends

Re: The 2024 MotoGP Season

News Feed

Simon Crafar is the new chairman of FIM MotoGP Stewards Panel

Simon Crafar, one of the popular MotoGP commentators replaces Freddie Spencer as the chairman of FIM MotoGP Stewards Panel. Crafar, a 500cc Grand Prix winner and long-time pit reporter for the MotoGP International Programme Feed, will take on the new role from 2025.
Freddie Spencer’s tenure began in 2019 upon creation of the position of Chairman of the FIM MotoGP Stewards Panel as a stand-alone role and he now has taken the decision to step away from this position at the conclusion of the 2024 season. incidentally, there have been a few riders who have been quite critical of Freddie's poor decision making with Johann Zarco's outburst after the Spanish GP being the most talked about.

Have to agree with ds.raikkonen, the most likely scenario would be Diggia and Morbidelli at VR46 and Aldeguer replacing Marc at Gresini. Jack Miller's MotoGP options are decreasing by the hour and the only viable move for him would possibly be to Pramac, alongside Miguel Oliveira (most likely).

VR46 have scouted for Aldeguer in the past and if they pursue him this time, it'll be interesting to see both Morbidelli and Miller working out their moves as I haven't come across any news linking Morbidelli to Gresini.

Elsewhere, a social media post showed Joe Roberts riding with Aprilia brand ambassador, Max Biaggi at Laguna Seca. Rumours are growing stronger.

Simon is such an asset for Dorna and MotoGP fans, explains everything so nicely and in simple terms! But him moving out of that Tech Talk role is a big loss for us, let's see who replaces him. But it is good for the team as currently riders have lost confidence in stewards and even flouting imposed penalties, like Enea in Catalunya. Crafar will be able to handle the team managers well, as he has that respect from the paddock and is quite an intimidating character when people go on his wrong side.

Coming to THR, now it is being said that Miller is their best option as Brivio and co do not think Roberts is quite ready for MotoGP
I think MotoGP should push more young riders at the front to create more excitement, especially what Roberts can bring in the US.

Monster Energy British Grand Prix

Silverstone Circuit

The summer break is over and MotoGP will roar back to life this weekend at the iconic Silverstone circuit, with a vintage twist to celebrate 75 years of MotoGP!

With more than 60 years of history, Silverstone has become one of the most prestigious venues dedicated to motorsport. Completely revamped in recent years, a multimillion pound investment saw the completion in 2010 of a first phase of works to greatly improve the venue, making it one of the fastest tracks on the MotoGP calendar and earning high praise from the World Championship riders who enjoyed the new layout.
The ‘Silverstone Wing’, a state-of-the-art, multi-million pound complex, became a new landmark at the circuit from 2011, thus adding to already breathtaking facilities at Silverstone.

What to expect from this year’s British GP!

The 2024 MotoGP Season-screenshot-20240801-10.28.06.png

The historic Silverstone will host a 75th anniversary celebration this weekend, with vintage style meeting modern spectacle in the UK.

If you’re wondering what that entails, a live programme will be aired on YouTube today between 14:00 - 15:00 local time (18:30 - 19:30 IST) in Silverstone’s pitlane as each team takes the covers off their one-off 75-year celebration liveries they’ll run on Sunday.
