2023 Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix | Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace | Sao Paulo | 03 - 05 November

The penultimate race on the other side of the pond for 2023. Max took pole for Sunday's race during qualifying yesterday.

Last few minutes of the qualifying were red flagged due to the rain and cloud cover which made it look as if it was almost night!

The race starts a bit early compared to the last one in Mexico. Hope it stays dry as predicted.

Qualification is the only part as a Ferrari fan which I enjoy the most as they go toe to toe at the top. Atleast this time there won't be the agony of watching Leclerc loosing the top spot at turn 1 to Verstappen
Also what's going on with Russell, every other race he seems be doing something like this. Some sort of penalty for some sort of infringement, maybe the pressure from Lewis.

Re: 2023 Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix | Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace | Sao Paulo | 03 - 05 November

Sprint Shootout: One thing to note was how Alonso suffered a puncture and was forced to limp back to the pits. Ocon lost control over a kerb after which he had slight contact with Alonso and was soon into the barriers. Not sure if he was caught by surprise as Alonso did not seem to be in the racing line but Ocon had a very angry response on the radio.

Would be interesting to see if Lando can hold on to the lead in the first corner and the subsequent laps. Another surprise was Checo qualifying 3rd for the Sprint.

Bigger surprise was both Alpha Tauri's qualifying in 6th and 8th after being knocked out in Q1 for the main race qualifying.

Indeed. Would be interesting to see how well the Sprint goes for them. Lovely to see Riccardio doing well but Yuki certainly lacks patience like we witnessed in the Mexican GP.

Re: 2023 Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix | Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace | Sao Paulo | 03 - 05 November

Sprint Race: As expected Max pounced on the first corner and was able to take the lead and no looking back after that. Just 0.577 seconds separating Hamilton, Sainz and Ricciardo. Hamilton was barely able to hold off Sainz in the last lap as his rear tyres lacked grip significantly. Riccardro finished just 0.197 seconds behind Sainz. A good race for Yuki who was within the DRS zone of Leclerc almost throughout the race.

This is a good circuit for a Sprint.

Ferrari and Mercedes both got their setups wrong and suffered a fair bit, no doubt due to the lack of practice time.

Fresh sets of Soft tires for the Alpha Tauri's paid dividends. Good race for Yuki.

Best sprint of the season perhaps. The tussle in the middle kept me on the edge. Also wasn't expecting Ham(Merc) to struggle like that with tyres. They basically did a Ferrari

Oh no, we lost Charles on the formation lap itself. Looks like hydraulics issue that caused the crash.
Edit - Kind of pile up on turn 1 on lap 1. Albon tagged Nico and collected Kevin along with and Kevin knocked off the rear wing of Oscar. It’s been red flagged now with only 16 cars.

Oh poor Leclerc. This is just poor from a professional team. First Sainz and now Leclerc who retired before even the race starts. At this level it is just unacceptable. I don't think anyone else would be so easy on the radio blaming the luck.instead of sounding off the team. That guy has patience of a saint.

What a drive from Fernando, kept the faster Redbull behind for majority of the race and on the last lap, retake the position which he lost a lap earlier. Super drive, otherwise a boring race overall with not much action.

Re: 2023 Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix | Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace | Sao Paulo | 03 - 05 November

As Verstappen seals record 17th win of the season from Norris, the battle for the 3rd position seemed the best on an otherwise predictable podium finish.

Quote:
'I thought the podium was gone’ – Alonso on his thrilling final-lap battle with Perez!
Alonso managed to out-drag Perez to the line, claiming P3 by just 0.053s from Perez.

Brilliant drive by Alonso, he really showed who is the real Defense Minister. Surprising to see how the Mercs fell down the order as the race progressed. In past 5 years we have seen atleast one of them in the Top 5 most of the times.

At this point I really don't know how he has stuck with the team, perhaps no other option? Supporting Ferrari has no privileges but only disappointments. The only privilege is you will get a group therapy discount.

With Mercedes having really terrible race, this was perfect opportunity for Ferrari to wipe off the deficit. With one more car on track that could have been possible.
