Max Verstappen planning to set up his own GT3 Racing team from 2025

Current Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen, is planning to put together his very own two-car GT3 racing team to compete in series' like the GT World Challenge.

According to reports, the F1 driver's goal is to have his own racing team via Verstappen.com Racing - which currently sponsors and supports various racing activities. This includes sponsoring Thierry Vermeulen - the son of Verstappen's manager, Raymond Vermeulen.

Speaking to a Dutch magazine, Verstappen stated, "We are working on it at the moment. Next year will be tight, but I would like to have it as soon as possible. Having a GT3 team in 2025 with a minimum of two cars should be possible."

Max Verstappen wants to offer a platform which can help recognise talented sim racers and prepare them for a career in GT Racing. He mentioned that he wants to build a stepping stone from sim racing to GT3, so one doesn't have to only go through karting to get into motorsports. He said, "We have been working on it for a while. The planning phase is over, we are in action mode now."

Verstappen has himself shown interest in switching to endurance racing once his F1 career comes to a close.

I've always thought of max as the driver who can tame WRC machines. he should definitely give it a try.

The WEC will require too much patience from an F1 driver! Not every driver has that sort of patience for an entire WEC season.

Karts offer the right platform for any competitive racer, don't know whether sim racing can substitute the real thing!

That's a great initiative.

Goes a long way towards easing the barriers to entry into motorsports for those that cannot afford to take the Karting route or don't have the infrastructure around them.

Sim racing has been one of the fastest growing platforms of late.
Established Simracers like Jimmy Broadbent, Steve Brown, Jann Mardenborough, Rhys Tatterson, Lucas Ordonez, Ricardo Sanchez and many more have been able to transition to the real world. In fact, the upcoming Gran Turismo movie is based on such real stories.

Who knows, it may give us the next Chandok, Karthikeyan or even Hamilton from India!
