Re: 2023 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix | Hungaroring | Budapest | 21 - 23 July

I read somewhere that F1A has reported that it lost more than 650000 viewers so far because of Max and Redbull dominance this year. Everyone wants to see the fight for the 1st place in races but it is not happening as the fight happens only from 2nd place onwards due to Max. Perez does not have the skills nor the speed to beat Max in a straight fight though he has the same car and so it has become so boring to watch F1 this season. FIA is trying to do something to make the races more interesting by bringing new tyre format during the Hungarian GP qualifying which resulted in Lewis taking position however it was the same story in the race as Max dominated it once again. FIA has to desperately do something to keep the viewers interested or I am sure they are going to lose many more viewers and I am already one of them.

I think we were saying the same thing back in the early 2000s when Schumi and Ferrari were winning everything in sight. Though I guess now F1 has to compete with a lot more content online. Personally, I've stopped watching races a long time ago, not because of any particular team dominance, but because overtaking had gotten so rare and overall the sport had become very boring.

And you weren't bored when Mercedes were running rings around everybody else? Game changing innovation and pushing the envelope on rules has always been part of the game. When an underdog team like Brawn deployed the double diffuser to telling effect, they'd caught everybody off guard, and even the copies of their diffuser would take time to be developed, tested, and produced for actual racing, so they just ran away with the championships. When Mercedes who had a headstart over others with their hybrid technology were romping to victories where others struggled over the remaining places on the grid, it was no longer the underdog battle. Similarly, when Seb Vettel won four championships on the trot, the only ones smiling were the RedBull and Seb fans. Everything is a cycle, and Redbull and Newey are doing their best to eke out as much as possible while they find themselves ahead of everybody else, but it's a hard ask. The budget cap puts a serious dampener on teams like Ferrari, who have their own track (Mugello), and wind tunnel, and used them all they wanted before the cost caps and wind tunnel time-limits came in.

The only actual time i enjoyed F1 truly was the glorious Schumacher Hakkinen era. Those were my golden years when i truly appreciated the sport in all its glory.

Good point about the Budget caps.

Mercedes dominated with a budget of $400 million! whereas the current budget is just $135 million for 2023, however they can't stop complaining about other teams cost cap breach, Ironic!

About the viewership.
A ton of new folks has started watching F1 around the DTS series, its obvious that many who came in for the drama as shown in DTS have dropped of as there is no spicy drama portrayed during the actual race.
DTS probably will keep the viewership with the added spiciness.
I believe the DTS factor should have been considered. Untill the target is to create an image which says : "Redbull and Max's dominance is boring the viewers"
That target reminds me on famous words said by Hamilton "Sebastian Vettel dominance could bore fans" in 2013. Cant help but link these things agendas and wonder who's behind this!

Just leaving you with some stats of the F1 viewership.

2023 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix | Hungaroring | Budapest | 21 - 23 July-f1viewership.jpg
Notice the drop of 450Ml to 352Ml from 2013 to 2017. Also, there was no DTS factor involved back then. I leave each to draw their own conclusion.
