Re: Formula 1 : 2024 Season

I very much prefer Jolyon Palmer and Alex Jacques on F1 TV over Croft and Brundle. Croft used to make so many mistakes, it wasn't even funny.

He did make mistakes (which were irritating given his vast experience) but at least he made the dreary racing a bit exciting.

Even Ted Kravitz was amazing, but then he started the weird Ted's diary thing. The ITV era was the also good with Steve Rider

Dunno man - I would rather see calm commentators on point rather than Croftie shouting at the top of his voice.

True, sometimes it used to get so distracting that I actually muted the starts just to focus on driver movement off the line

Ah. Thanks for the tip. I was so far watching on the iPad and Apple TV both of which do not support this. The TV app really should, there's enough space.

Aside, Monaco should be fire with onboard cams.

Leclerc takes pole at Monaco. Ferrari looked good in practice and now they have taken the pole.

Menace would be an understatement!
Here's what sprang to my mind after seeing those replays!

- Finally, the curse is over, and Charles wins at his home GP. The last win came back in Austria in 2022. It was a pretty emotional race for him.

Quote:
Leclerc on the closing stages: "I have to say that I was thinking to my dad at this moment. That was my thought while driving. Obviously he's given everything for me to be here. It was a dream of ours for me to race there, and to win, so it's a miracle.”

- Sainz dropped down dead last after getting a puncture on the 1st lap but was reinstated by the FIA to restart P3 on the grid. This proved to be very lucky, as he finished P3. Also, Sainz played the team game brilliantly by blocking off the chances of a pit window for Norris.

- Good race for both the McLarens and their upgrades seem to be going in the right direction.

- Max finished P6 and was not on the podium after a long time. He had a significant tyre offset advantage after the pit stop over Russell as he was on a 1-stop strategy, but couldn’t quite manage to overtake him as there are very few opportunities on track.

- Full marks to Alonso for backing the back markers and opening a pit stop window for teammate Stroll. Zero marks to Stroll, as he literally made all that effort go to waste as he banged into a corner and suffered a puncture, which forced him to make an additional pit stop.

- Magnussen caused one more crash today, which took out his teammate Hulkenburg as well as Perez, who was left behind in his monocoque chassis without wheels. This was also the reason for the red flag on Lap 1. Likely for Magnussen to get more penalty points on his licence.

- Alpine needs to get things straightened out. Ocon caused an unnecessary accident with teammate Gasly and suffered a DNF due to his stupidity. Both drivers, as it is, don’t have confirmed seats for next year.

That is Ocon airborne.

Max has already won thrice- 2021, 2022, 2023. I think you missed counting the 2021 title, being a Hamilton fan.

Re: Formula 1 : 2024 Season

Is there any sense in noticing this interesting trend

1. Before the news on Adrian Newey broke, Max / Red Bull were untouchable. Even on the day Max retired, the car was functioning flawlessly all weekend till that issue occurred.

2. Post the split news, Max came second at Miami (more due to bad luck but he was complaining about the car); Norris almost overtook him at Italy and over this weekend at Monaco, both Red Bull cars hardly met up with the competition.

Only time will tell. But Max’s third championship doesn’t seem as sure as it did till a month ago.

The race was boring, even for Monaco.

Yes, the only real highlight of the race was the crash on the first lap.

Looks like there already some rifts started, now it will be interesting to see whether it would reach a level of Alonso/Renault in 2006.

Hamilton’s relationship with the team was put in the spotlight throughout the Monaco weekend, as there were a number of other moments when he questioned what the team had done.

Re: Formula 1 : 2024 Season

Sergio Perez re-signs with Red Bull Racing. His contract will keep him at RBR till 2026.

Got to feel for Sainz. From winning races for Ferrari, he will now be forced to choose between Williams/Sauber/Alpine, etc.

Re: Formula 1 : 2024 Season

Do you guys expecting a comeback from Max Verstappen at the Canadian GP? Personally, I think he will win the race this Sunday by a fair margin.
