Hotstar not streaming F1 in 2023 | Where to watch Formula 1?

We are nearing 2nd race of the season and it seems F1 will not return to Hotstar or any other normal broadcaster. So if you want to watch live, F1 TV pro is the only option.

I watched the first race with 7 days free trial offer. Used rest of the days to see some of the past races just relive some of those moments.

I have still not subscribed but all set to see the Round 2 live. Have borrowed an account of someone who is not at all interested in F1

So my trial period ends and seems the app doesn’t even have an option to watch highlights without a subscription where as free highlights are available on F1 website.

Race looks interesting with Lewis, Charles and Max starting middle of the pack and Fernando at front row.

The information is relevant, given the current situation in India, where F1 could not get a broadcaster to agree financial terms to telecast the 2023 season. It gives us an idea as to the amount of money that F1 could be demanding from a broadcaster.

What is it costing ESPN to purchase the rights to telecast F1 to their U.S. audience in 2023 ?

ESPN, which is owned by The Walt Disney Company with Hearst Communications as an equity stakeholder, is reported to pay $85million per year for the rights to show Formula 1 in America.

It initially inked a three-year exclusive deal signed in 2019, but now holds the contract through 2025 in a fresh deal revealed in October 2022.

Why did NBC lose the F1 deal?

ESPN took the U.S. F1 deal away from previous broadcaster NBC Sports Network, which had held the rights since 2013, after F1 announced plans to stream races on its own platform, F1 TV.

NBC had been willing to pay for a seven-year contract, but the streaming issue proved to be a deal breaker as NBC was starting its own subscription platform, called Peacock.

Can I stream F1 in the United States?

ESPN+ is the live streaming and on-demand platform that carries all of ESPN’s Sky-supplied F1 coverage.

Formula 1’s own ‘over-the-top’ digital service also allows fans to stream races online with extra features available. Called F1 TV Pro, it costs $10 per month or $80 per annum.

A more basic tier, called F1 TV Access, costs $3 per month or $27 per annum but does not include live races.

Video feed freezed up twice but then I hit the live button and it went back to normal.

No. I watched the entire race in my mobile with Jio data and it was a perfect stream from start to end

I was facing a lot of issues yesterday, I switched browser to Chrome and it was working fine then.

I am yet to as my renewal is another month away. It was same cost last year too when I subscribed and the 23.99$ offer was only available for early birds.

As per the news report from TOI, FanCode, a broadcasting platform for sports, has secured the exclusive broadcast rights for Formula 1 in India for the 2024 and 2025 seasons, and is offering the yearly pass for INR 599.

Reminder - The Bahrain GP is on Saturday and not Sunday.
