2022 Formula 1 Aramco United States Grand Prix | Circuit of the Americas, Austin | 21-23 October-track-details.jpg

Details of the track from Formula1.com

When was the track built?
The Circuit of The Americas, designed by Hermann Tilke in collaboration with American architectural firm HKS, endured something of a nervy start, with construction suffering several setbacks. It was well worth the wait, though, when 1978 F1 champion Mario andretti opened the track on October 21 2012.

When was its first Grand Prix?
F1 first raced at the Circuit of The Americas in 2012, for the first United States Grand Prix since the 2007 race at Indianapolis. Unsurprisingly, over 100,000 spectators packed out the Austin venue, witnessing Lewis Hamilton’s last ever win in a McLaren before his switch to Mercedes for 2013.

What’s the circuit like?
If the corners at COTA seem familiar, they should be. Turns 3 through 6 look not dissimilar to Silverstone's high-speed run through Maggotts/Becketts or the S Curves at Suzuka, while Turns 12 through 15 mimic Hockenheim's stadium section. Meanwhile, the uphill run into wide, wide Turn 1 – hey, everything’s bigger in Texas, right? – has provided some fine overtaking action in the track’s short life.

Why go?
There’s a reason Austin is often regarded as America’s coolest city, with great food and a vibrant nightlife, all united under the banner of the city’s unofficial slogan: ‘Keep Austin Weird’. Then when racing starts, you’ll be in attendance at one of the great modern race tracks. With the Americans’ attitude to partying, you won’t want to miss out!

Where is the best place to watch?
You’re spoilt for choice. If you sit in the main grandstand on the start-finish straight you’ll get – in true US style – the benefit of an in-seat food and drinks service, while those in the stand at Turn 1 enjoy a view all the way to downtown Austin. But if you want to see the racing action up close, find a way into the the Stadium Section stands at Turns 15/16.

The Mercs will have to be on their A Game to win this one. Could see a win for Hamilton. But Verstappen is fast. Lets see how this pans out.

I am assuming the temperature will be high in Florida so another tyre degradation nightmare for Ferrari like in Suzuka??

F1 need to stop giving the chequered flag to disinterested celebs. A mannequin would have waved that flag better than Tim Cook!

PS: That last lap dash from Seb was awesome.

He probably just wanted to scream out, this is the best flag i have waived, EVER!!

That said what a drive from Max and Red bull has sealed the constructor championship too, max was just phenomenal!

Lol absolutely. He was barely putting any effort in waving that flag. Or maybe waving chequered flag is a skill too

Re: F1: Red Bull found guilty of breaching cost cap during the 2021 season

Looks like Stroll has started his stupid antics with his future team mate already like how he has done with Vettel.
He is probably the only immature driver on the grid even after so many years of racing.

True! If he would have just held it steady, the wind would have done a better job!

In my opinion the driver of the day should have probably gone to Fernando. Taking nothing from Vettel,he was incredible as well. But Alonso had 180mph crash, was airborne for a while(flashbacks of Webber) and hit the wall but still managed to get P7 in a damaged car. I so want to see him driving for one of the Big3

Someone needs to punch George in his face.
This guy doesn’t respect other drivers, is very impatient and when he wants to get ahead, will bang on others cars.
Apart from it, a very good drive by a lot of drivers - Max, Ham, Leclerc, Perez, Vettel, Alonso, Tsunoda

Look at it from the PoV of the owners of F1, that bit of PR might result in an ad spend by one of the world's most valuable companies someday, more revenue for F1.

The new owners seem to be smarter about monetizing the brand through non-traditional avenues (eg. Drive to Survive), and that might go a long way in keeping F1 relevant and afloat in the future.

Re: 2022 Formula 1 Aramco United States Grand Prix | Circuit of the Americas, Austin | 21-23 October

The two safety cars equalised the race both the times.
Max again proved why he is a champion driver.

The last 10 laps where Max literally blazed past Charles and Lewis was really amazing. Feel for Checo who was so close to coming P3. 4 more laps in the race and i feel, things would have been different, Lewis would have been out of podium.
Feel so bad for Carlos, only bad luck would have stopped him from a podium and voila...it was indeed bad luck!

Alonso again showed why he is a fighter. That take off was really scary! Unfortunate for him to get penalised for the mirror thingy.

Looking forward to the Mexican GP and rooting for Checo this time around for a grand home finish.

Max might want to surpass the 13 race win record in a season though!

Re: 2022 Formula 1 Aramco United States Grand Prix | Circuit of the Americas, Austin | 21-23 October

It has been happening constantly in past few races where Ferrari is losing the pole position right before turn 1. Even in this race I could actually feel that Max will jump on Sainz quite easily even before it started. Same thing in Singapore where Leclerc was overtaken by Checo immediately off the line. Is that Ferrari really bad off the line or Redbull is just better at it.
