Re: Formula 1: The 2019 French Grand Prix

Mercedes qualifying domination continues with yet another front row lockout. Vettel will start the race from 4th row on grid behind rejuvenated McLaren pair. Expecting some action in the midfield at the beginning of the race.

Re: Formula 1: The 2019 French Grand Prix

Mercedes' utter dominance continues and has their historic 63rd front row lockout, more than any other teams managed in the history of F1. And Vettel fizzled out after the dramatic Canadian GP and was outclassed by his younger teammate in every session in French GP.

And what a Qualifying for McLaren after a long time , very refreshing indeed. Hope Alonso stayed when the team is making progress, the Honda PU is doing wonders. Surprised with Gasly's 9th position and he will be more vulnerable to Hulkenberg, Kimi and Albon behind him who may start with medium compound tyres while Gasly and Giovinazzi start on soft compound tyres.

Hoping for a very good entertaining race!!!

Re: Formula 1: The 2019 French Grand Prix

Since when has the Paul Recard race been renamed as Le Castellate. I have always knows it by Paul Recard.

What came of Vettel that he slipped that low. At least we need two rows with Mercedes & Ferrari in some combo. Now Vettel with take some labs to make it through the hoi polloi at risk to both them and himself.

I hope we have a somewhat competitive race. Also, when is Verstappen moving to F or M.

Mostly to M, since Bottas's contract comes to an end this year. And Toto has already admitted to talking with Jos Verstappen.

Leclerc, Verstappen, Norris, Russel, Kvyat, Albon - The future of F1 is certainly exciting.

Jos is supposed to be a challenging person to deal with. If this happens, F1 becomes interesting although Ferrari will need to do more to get there!

Re: Formula 1: The 2019 French Grand Prix

Leclerc looks very racy. With the advantage of being ahead of his team-mate he has a chance to make a powerful statement. It's critical that both the Ferrari's keep in touch with the cars in front to make something good out of the situation in this race.

McLarens look to be on the pace as well. Sainz and Norris have a great opportunity though I believe Vettel would get them both on the DRS. It was crucial that Vettel kept in from of Gasly.

Great to see the moves that LeClerc put on Verstappen at the start.

Drive on,

It's all becoming a bit pointless this season sadly. Hamilton has had his best ever start to a season. And Hamilton usually only gets better as the season progresses. To me it's quite evident that Bottas 2.0 with the new killer attitude might be a phenomenal driver but sadly not at the level of Hamilton. It is kind of ominous to recall that the only season that Hamilton lost in the Mercedes dominance era is when he had reliability issues in his car - even then a very determined Nico only just beat him.

The reason for the mini-rant is I feel like the best of the grid is not in the best of teams. Ricciardo definitely needeed to have moved up to Ferrari. Lewis needs a better competition within the team than Bottas, maybe Verstappen. Gasly right now doesn't deserve the Red Bull seat.

Phenomenal drive by Norris. The midfield battle was interesting especially at the very end. Norris was unlucky to have been pushed off the track. Very hard working and self critical, that boy is definitely going places.

Another weekend where Leclerc has outperformed his more illustrious teammate. He has been very impressive with the package he has. I am very glad he survived the Verstappen test in the opening corners. I hope he gets his first win this season. He is the only non-Merc driver that looked like winning other than in Montreal.

Unless Bottas does something, this season may be well and truly over because Lewis is in his element.

Re: Formula 1: The 2019 French Grand Prix

Ricciardo has been slapped with two 5 second penalties, for exceeding track limit to gain place, moving him from P7 to P11.

As expected. Especially on the back of what happened in Canada where Vettel was penalized for much less. But it was a good fight anyway which Ricciardo seem to have enjoyed.

Gasly got really lucky to get the last point and well Ricky does the mistake and paid the price.

The midfield battle was really interesting with Hulkenberg chasing Kimi almost the whole race and in turn Kimi chasing Daniel. How missing out of Q3 has helped Kimi and Hulk with free tyre choice and their strategy to run deep in their first run with Hard compound tyres.

McLaren seems to found their mojo back, now challenging the RBR - Sainz's initial tussle with Verstappen was really good and even Vettel fought for 4 laps before overtaking Norris. Hope they continue their form which is much needed in the otherwise boring season.

Lewis seems unbeatable and really driving on a different level than others on the grid. And to think that he struggled with his W10 in the practices and cantered home when it mattered - legendary

Leclerc, the kid got the heart and gave a scare to Bottas in the dying laps. Would have been interesting if he had some more laps to compete. On the other hand, Vettel seems to have resigned to the fact that he cannot match Verstappen let alone his teammate, after yesterday's disastrous qualifying.

Re: Formula 1: The 2019 French Grand Prix

maFIA would do anything to help Hamilton win, be it giving a lesser car to Bottas or slapping a penalty to whom it may concern or making teams race on a tyre compound that suits only one team as evidently Ferrari could go faster but those tyres wouldn't let them.

It's team FIA-Mercedes-Pirelli vs the rest in F1. It's unfortunate to see F1 in this sad state of affairs.

Watched qualifying and after that decided to skip watching the race. Now I wonder if its worth to spend five minutes to watch the highlights. This is coming form a guy who has missed flights twice in 1999 and 2000 because of being glued to TV for F1 race

Re: Formula 1: The 2019 French Grand Prix

Boring race. Hamilton could have self-imposed a drive-through penalty and still won the race. Only interesting part was the fight between P7-P11 during the last few laps.

Looks like bottas has lost the urge to fight Hamilton.

Re: Formula 1: The 2019 French Grand Prix

It's ten in a row for Mercedes.
I got so bored, I stopped watching.

One of the most boring F1 season ever. I will take a break and wait for 2021 season.
