2013 F1 - Italian Grand Prix @ Monza

12th Race of the 19 in the Calender.

A nice extended weekend after the race, Wishing everyone a fantastic Ganesh Chaturti

A High Speed Track and hopefully must aid the RedBulls and the Ferrari's. Looking forward to the Race Weekend. Predicting Vettel to take a substantial lead in the WDC , expecting Ferrari's and Force India to do well. We had a Fantastic Monza Race last year and i certainly expect this race to rise above all. The season has been a mixed bag so far, and the F1 excitement has certainly gone a bit down with the tire drama.

re: 2013 F1 - Italian Grand Prix @ Monza

I have given up hope that Ferrari will do something spectacular and spring back in the title race. They are finishing so badly in the Qualifiers.
It's very frustrating to see Vettel win one race after another with massive leeway.

If Vettel wins this then Alonso can call it a season and it's over..

re: 2013 F1 - Italian Grand Prix @ Monza

Monza is Ferrari's best chance of a race win, although with Red Bull's pace at Spa, that still might not be enough. Ferrari must focus on retaining P2 at the Constructors, this too seems difficult with Mercedes pace and consistency.

Vettel would need atleast 3 DNFs to make the title race interesting.

re: 2013 F1 - Italian Grand Prix @ Monza

After watching the Red-Bull's performance on a high speed circuit like Spa, I don't see much competition at Monza.
Unless they have an engine/gearbox issue, which seems unlikely as most of the cars use new engines/gearbox for Monza, this might just turn out to be yet another Red-Bull dominated race.

Mercedes and Ferrari need to up their game, or soon Vettel will grab his 4th championship win on the trot. I have no hopes from Lotus this year.

It would be fun if the Finn moved to Ferrari next year . Wonder what the conversation would be like between Rob Smedley and Iceman

Re: 2013 F1 - Italian Grand Prix @ Monza

Another day, another probable dissapointment.
McL aint gonna pull any magic, and Hammy buay has already indicated SG as a probable turning point.
I foresee a Mercedes front row qualifying, and then the RBR "fingering" its way to the front in ,at the most, 3 laps.
No?

I would love to be disappointed, however.

Re: 2013 F1 - Italian Grand Prix @ Monza

It will be a Merc front row and RB winning the race.Ferrari and Merc is finding it difficult to catch RB during the race.I really hoped Kimi will join either a RB or Ferrari in 2014 to make race more interesting. But i think it will not happen and he will remain with Lotus collecting second, third etc which won't be good enough for a WDC.

Re: 2013 F1 - Italian Grand Prix @ Monza

Ferrari might actually do well at Monza. RB impressed at Spa, but the twisty middle sector there had a part to play in that, where RB was gaining most of its advantage.

Monza is a pure top-end grunt circuit, which the Renault-powered RBR don't possess, while Ferrari & Mercedes do.

I still think RB might win, but there's at least hope for a decent fight from the other top two.

Beautiful. Thanks for Sharing.
They showed the old bank last years pre-race coverage or pre-qualy on TV, The old road had rot with grass going in between : (. I wish they would bring back such sharp banks on tracks.

What's the Issue dangerous tyre loads on single side and the way the current aero functions optimally on F1 cars driven on flat roads, for not allowing it yes?

Banking isnt a prime concern as F1 cars were fine at Indy. I feel its more to do with crowd management/logistics. "Stadium seating" seems to take preference over good ol character! Shame about Hockenheim as well, that was due to the circuit going through dense forest and loss of radio contact!

Really? I was always under the impression it was due to safety concerns over car stability on the sharp banking.
Oh well...

Implausible. The Red Bulls had the lowest top speed in FP1, lowest as in even the Caterham and Marrussia had higher top speeds.

This means only one thing -- they are running a strong downforce setup for tomorrow.

Even if it rains, the Red Bulls will most likely be most well suited for the track, allowing Vettel for a straight forward win.

If SV wins this race I will seriously stop watching the next few races, I find GP2 more entertaining.

In other news -- the Force India looks sexier than ever. The VJM06 Monza update IMHO makes it the sexiest VJMXXX car evar! So happy they got rid of that bulky nose.

The car also got a thermal camera, so now you cans see the tires change temperature rapidly ! Apologies for the reversed image video.

Re: 2013 F1 - Italian Grand Prix @ Monza

Vettel was more than 0.6s clear in FP2 to others.

Vettel: 1’24.453
Webber: 1’25.076
Raikkonen: 1’25.116
Grosjean: 1’25.116
Alonso: 1’25.330
Hamilton: 1’25.340

I think they want to send a strong message to others to ditch attempts for 2013 season and concentrate on 2014. That ways RBR themselves can divert more resources to 2014.

Impressive nonetheless at Monza! I can't comprehend what it could be like when the circus takes off from Europe to the latest circuits.
