2013 F1 - German Grand Prix @ Nürburgring

Aah..! a back to back Race Weekend Though the last race,i could only catch the first 4 laps and the last 4 laps, i can see F1 losing its sheen with the way the races are turning out so far. If 2012 was a SILLY SEASON, 2013 is RUBBish (er ) SEASON.

Getting back to the German Grand Prix, Built in 1927, the demanding and dangerous circuit in Germany's Eifel Mountains is still renowned as one of the toughest tests of a driver. I have limited knowledge about this circuit, maybe few guys can put in some more inputs.

Re: 2013 F1 - German Grand Prix @ Nürburgring

Another throw away race for the Red Bulls likely. They have done well here the last four years, their only competition being Brawn/McLaren/Ferrari.

Ferrari and McLaren won't challenge the Red Bulls here, and hunting the Mercedes shouldn't be too hard for Vettel.

Should be a relatively predictable race (excepting any drama of course).

Re: 2013 F1 - German Grand Prix @ Nürburgring

Each weekend is now becoming predictable for the top 4 teams.. (dare I say that post Silverstone!)

- Massa crashes during Free practice
- Quali battle between Merc and Bulls, Merc come out on top with a 1-2
- Red lights go off.. Grosjean makes contact into Turn 1
- Bulls start hunting down Merc (after Webber slides down the order with a poor start)
- Ferrari followed by Lotus pick up the spoils.

Smart money will be on Vettel again.

Well what about the tyres. Althoug Pirelli have said that they are reverting back to 2012 way of constructing the tyre internal belt using Kevlar rather than the usual steel to ensure thet Blowouts do not occour. They are also blaming the Teams now by saying that "
Pirelli attributed blame to the teams mounting the rear tyres the wrong way around, running low tyre pressures, using extreme cambers - the angle at which the wheel is mounted on the suspension - and what it described as "high kerbs" at Silverstone. "

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/23155008

Keeping my Fingers crossed that blowouts do not happen as the Nürburgring.

Where are the Mercs ????
Pity McL, they have gone into the Have Been's already.
Torro Rosso is now marching ahead and I think in couple of races they will be past McLaren.

Amazing summary. Praying for some good luck for Paul DiResta. Poor chap needs some buckets of it.

It looks like a straight fight between the Mercs and the RedBulls. Both Lewis and Nico were 1 second clear on top in FP1.

Alonso didnt set a time as the car stopped twice on the track with a technical glitch.

Interesting change in the Mercedes nose from Australian form to current Nurburgring form, along with some other changes:

Qualifying is underway.
Here's hoping for an exciting race weekend devoid of exploding tyres

Most drivers using softs in Q1 itself.
Usually they try to save them and use it for Q2 and Q3.

Oh My God ! Poor Rosberg, fastest since 3 races and this time doesn't even qualify for Q3!
What a blunder by Mercedes!
Anyone knows the reason of that error? How could they just afford that!!

Last race, Ferrari would have landed in the same situation with Alonso going to the pits after his flying lap in Q2 and finishing 10th. Was a very tense moment.

Re: 2013 F1 - German Grand Prix @ Nürburgring

It was all happening in Quali! Mega lap from Lewis.. he's settled in nicely now. No more braking issues.

Ferrari's call was a bit of a shocker, with Nico out, P4 was there for the taking, and given Webber's starts, i'm sure Alonso would have fancied himself into P3 before T1! But they seem to be convinced that the pit window for the front runners will open by Lap 8 and they will not have enough of a gap to get back into clean air in front of the cars running the Primes.

Big gamble. Getting a clean start will be vital. On the bright side, Grosjean is in front! Wonder who the next victim of his front wing will be?

Re: 2013 F1 - German Grand Prix @ Nürburgring

I presume we can expect a collision when Grosjean gets close to Ricciardo on lap 1.

What the hell kind of performance by Force India was that ? Adrian Sutil is behind Esteban Guitierrez ....

I thoroughy hope Hamilton and Raikkonen give Vettel a royal pounding this race....usually he qualifies P1 which enables him to run away.

Now he's stuck in the ultimate F1 sandwich.

The only thing I can think of worse is Hamilton in front and Alonso behind.

Woah! Just reading these lines got a smile to my face. It would be really great if the above happens!
After performing well in Q1 and Q2 i really expected and hoped Alonso to be in the top 3 but it was utter disappointment to see him go down the grid.

P.S. I didn't watch the last race Live cuz was tied up with some work and when I checked the positions on my cell after more than half the race was over, there was no Vettel in the top 3! I suspected something must have gone wrong definitely and YES! he was out!!
Stayed up from 12.40 to 2.40 a.m. and saw the entire race in repeat telecast! Couldn't get happier..

So have got superstitious and if I give into it then even tomorrow I might not watch the Live telecast yet again and stay up at night and yes, miss college on Monday

Looks like Vettel is going to win this one.

Very good driving from Kimi as well.

Re: 2013 F1 - German Grand Prix @ Nürburgring

Vettel leading after 57 laps. The first corner overtake by Webber was brilliant.

Raikonnen is second and Grosjean third, followed by Alonso. No surprise overtakes expected, and this should be the finishing order unless someone crashes/retires.

The race is over.
