Absolutely NO predictions this time around. There was an elevation picture that i saw. Brilliant in terms of those.

Look at this elevation here :Shockked: |
I have a feeling Tilke drew inspiration from the mighty Corkscrew. :)

Why not the picturesque New York, or a Beverly Hills track, like an American Monaco ? |
Maybe because they want to promote Austin. NY or CA doesn't need F1 for publicity.
To be brutally honest here I am sure another street circuit track wouldn't do F1 any harm at all.
Imagine a track through downtown San Francisco with the Bay/Golden Gate/ Alcatraz Island in the background as the cars swoop through the hills !! Although I'd wonder where they'd place the stands.
The USA has many terrific cities with splendid sceneries, it's just a pity they couldn't have placed it somewhere else, but surely I'm being ignorant, as they wouldn't have gone through with this if they hadn't crunched their numbers well.
For someone who's attending -- I am quite pessimistic about this one; -_- .
^^ F1 already has lot of lousy street circuits and I dont think it needs anymore.
Singapore for an example, except the visual experience there is nothing thats good for racing.
Circuit racing should stay at the circuits IMO :)
ESPN HD will be showing Friday practice live from Austin at 8:30 pm IST today. Keep your reminders on and do not miss !
Team,
Is ESPN broadcasting the race ? I am checking the program guide on TATA SKY. I don't see any thing scheduled for SUNDAY. Please confirm !!

They are unpredictable, showed Abu Dhabi practice in HD and race in SD. Trust them to goof up, they don't show race in HD even when there are no live programs on ESPN HD.
Kimi being his usual in the press meet.
Guys, please turn on ESPN HD / Star Soprts. FP1 is LIVE!clap: and FP2 too later on.
Track is awesome!
Cheers!

Well the grip seems to be very low, i suspect we will in for a few spins in qualifying as well as race and track evolution may not be just upto mark given the brand new circuit and lower than expected temperatures.
Predicted lap times on simulator are 1.38 ish. Will be interesting to see how they match up to real thing.
Also that new foghorn like alarm in pitlane sounding off for every car enrty is Annoying!
Expecting to see lots of Sideways action tomorrow at the Americaslol:
Every car is sliding at Turn-1. and almost all the corners. Its going to get exciting on Qualifying and on Raceday
2.2 second gap to Seb in FP1
Wakey wake and welcome to COTAS Fernando Alonso lol:
2.2s faster on a green circuit. Its not at all going the Ferrari way. Let's see how FP2 goes.
The circuit looks great on ESPN HD. And the track looks very slippery. Hopefully, it will rubber in by Sat.
Had a glimpse of Friday Practice (roughly 10 minutes) it looks like everybody is having fun drifting.
Anyone watching FP2?
Average laptimes of front runners within the simulator runs of 1.38's now. Vettel looks good to finish P1 in FP2 too (1:37:718 with just over 5 minutes to go), after missing most of his available running time of 90 minutes due to a water/coolant leakage, sitting it out in the pits.
Turn 19, the off-camber corner, is turning out to be quite a drift zone, not to forget turn 1 of course!
Edit: A Red Bull 1-2 with Vettel on top, with Alonso clawing at Vettel in 3rd. But as they say, you don't get trophies for being fast on a Friday!
On another note, Pastor Maldonado ekes out the last remaining bits of life from his Williams' engine, blowing it out within the last minute of the chequered flag being waved!
So that's it for Friday practice. Barring an unforseen turn of events for RBR, Alonso has another difficult fight on his hands! Lets see how it pans out in Qualifying tomorrow!
