Re: Samsung cars - ever heard of them?

The renault Safrine and the Fluence available in Middle east and basically manufactured by Samsung .These cars are sold with Renault name in rest of the world and samsung name in Korea.
I have used the new Fluence manufactured by Samsung in Dubai and they have a decent ride quality and comfort.

Re: Samsung cars - ever heard of them?

That car sure looks overdesigned. This car (or company) isnt launched anywhere as this might be produced only for the japanese market like some other lesser known car brands.

Re: Samsung cars - ever heard of them?

Well there are lots of Samsung facts which not many know. Of course the fact that they manufacture cars is also one of them

In S Korea, Samsung is involved everything from Pins to hospitals to construction to silicon products. They say, in Korea, life begins in Samsung lives in Samsung and dies in Samsung in Korea.

In fact, one strange fact is Samsung accounts for 1/3rd of export out of Korea. Which is something you will never see any other developed economy to be so monopolistic..

yes Newpunter, its True. Samsung Cars was running in loss so they had to give it out to Renault. Since Samsung brand is very strong in Korea the name still holds in Korea

Re: Samsung cars - ever heard of them?

but they were damn good and soild build actually .
I saw Hyundai Genisis before it was launched in USA and thought it is one damn good car and later US launch changed perception of Hyundai in world.
SM5 /SM7 has similar potential it is another story that Samsung has already sold off Samsung Motors to Renault so badge problem is also gone.

Re: Samsung cars - ever heard of them?

While we are talking about Samsung Trivia, how many people know that Samsung started off as a retail company way back in the 1930s ?

Well it was not a diesel.I guess very few uses Diesel cars in Middle east..
The one I drove was a 2.0 ltr Petrol which had a CVT gear box.
As per renault the engine and gear box was newly designed by Renault-Nissan.
The ride was really good.
Its a lot of vehicle for the price it offered . For about 67000 DHS (7.5 lacs INR ),what they offered was the following
2. ltr 156 HP Engine with Auto CVT and 6 speed tiptronic
full power options (including driver and passenger power heated seats and the wierd key card)
6 Airbags (front ,curtain and Knee)
BOSE premium Audio
ABS with EBD ,ESP, Speed sensitive power steering.
16" Alloys

The inerior quality felt more like European than Korean (May be the renault effect)
It came with a 5 years unlimited Mileage Warrenty and 3 Yrs contract

heavens !

those are some options given by the renault ...

one of my colleagues is waiting to hop over from his 3 year old dzire vdi to a top of the line fluence... will post some pics as soon as he gets it.

anyways, is the fluence considered as an outright rivalry for the sonata embera ? if so, then the "renault ians " will beat the " hyundai ns " casually cause this babe has some beauty and that too with all these goodies at the price of an i20 sportz crdi !!!!! boy oh boy... hope if the indian fluence also comes with the same price tag, then it will devour dzire, fiesta, etios and manza

Re: Samsung cars - ever heard of them?

Samsung and Renault have had links for quite some time. I think Renault owns a stake in Samsung Motors.

Re: Samsung cars - ever heard of them?

Yup I knew about these. SOme of those quite OK looking. Didn't know Renault had a tie-up though.Well I have seen some construction equipment made by Samsung so I guess they are no strangers to heavy engines.
