Ahh that looks much better! I was aghast looking at the earlier pics but then on closer look it looks as if the earlier pictures of the rear have camouflaged the actual tail lamps with a black cover. This certainly is a stunner.

Re: Porsche Macan - baby SUV coupe'

Porsche has released a statement saying that production would commence in December this year.

Porsche engineers took the Audi Q5 platform, churned everything up into a paste and added their own special sauce. Why? Because they wanted an SUV to sit below the Cayenne, much like the Cayman sits below the 911.

Re: Porsche Macan - baby SUV coupe'

Porsche Macan poised to push brand past 200,000-unit target years ahead of schedule.

VW group predicts Porsche's goal of surpassing annual vehicle sales of 200,000 will be reached up to four years ahead of schedule.
The key reason for both is the arrival next year of the Macan compact premium SUV. Predictions are Porsche will sell 63,000 Macans in 2014.

Last year Porsche sold 143,096 cars. With the forecast additional Macan volume in 2014, the brand's sales would easily top 200,000, a level it has said it aims to reach by 2018. Macan production starts in December.

As far as initial impressions go, the Macan's proportions already make it look better than the Cayenne.

Re: Porsche Macan - baby SUV coupe'

Macan would have two different engines offerings inAmerica, maybe more being available in Europe.

The engines in question are almost certainly V6s, one being a 3.0-liter, the other a 3.6-liter. Porsche has such displacements already, but the intriguing thing is both are supposed to be Bi-Turbos.

The 3.0-liter should be about the same as the one in the Panamera S, where it makes 420 hp. This engine is going into the Macan S, while the 3.6-liter Bi-Turbo is going in the Macan Turbo. Assuming this car has about 480 hp, so as not to upset the Cayenne market.

Both will come with standard 7-speed PDK and go on sale in 2014, with prices from $52,000 for the S and $75,000 for the Turbo. That-s a big mark-up from the Audi Q5 3.0 TFSI, which starts at $44,400.

Re: Porsche Macan - baby SUV coupe'

I spotted these Porsche test mules being driven aggressively in the mountains in Nevada last week.

There were three cars in total and were spotting Arizona plates.

I unfortunately couldn't get the interior shots.

2014 Porsche Macan

Link to News Section

Ahead of the 2013 Los Angeles Motor Show, the Porsche Macan's actual images and specifications have hit the interweb. The SUV, which will sit under the Cayenne, is aimed at garnering big volumes for the German sportscar brand best known for its 911 range of sportscars. German motoring magazine Auto und Motor Sport is carrying imagery and details of the 2014 Macan in its review of the crossover. The imagery includes a side-by-side comparo with the Audi Q5, upon which the Porsche crossover is based.

Porsche Macan - baby SUV coupe'-2014-porsche-macan-1.jpg

The Audi Q5's platform underpins the Macan and this is evident from the 2,807 mm wheelbase that the Macan shares with the Q5. While the size of the Porsche Macan is comparable to that of the Audi Q5, the sportier styling on the Porsche crossover has meant that the space inside the Macan is a bit of a squeeze. Engines and transmissions are the other items that the Macan shares with the Audi Q5.

Porsche Macan - baby SUV coupe'-2014-porsche-macan-2.jpg

Entry level engine options include 2 liter turbo petrol and turbo diesel motors in 4 cylinder layouts. These motors represent a comeback for 4 cylinder engines in Porsche cars, nearly two decades after the 1995 Porsche 968s. The 2 liter turbo petrol engine outputs 220 Bhp-350 Nm while the 2 liter diesel motor outputs 201 Bhp-400 Nm. The Macan S will be outfitted with a naturally aspirated V6, 295 Bhp petrol motor.

Porsche Macan - baby SUV coupe'-2014-porsche-macan-3.jpg

The Macan's top end petrol variant will feature a 3.6 liter V6 motor (395 Bhp-550 Nm) with twin turbo chargers while the range topping turbo diesel is a 3 liter V6 TDI motor good for 250 Bhp-550 Nm. A 7 speed DSG dual clutch automatic gearbox is standard, and so is an all wheel drive system. A hybrid version of Macan is said to be in the works and is likely to be launched sometime next year. Production of the Macan will commence in December with the first deliveries to begin early next year.

Competition to the Macan will come from the Audi Q5, the Range Rover Evoque and the BMW X3 crossovers. The Macan is due to be launched in India sometime next year. The Macan's elder sibling, the Cayenne is overwhelmingly popular when compared with other Porsche cars in India due to the SUV's suitability for Indian road conditions. A similar story could pan out with the Macan as well, given the crossover's high ground clearance and seating position.

Three world premieres at automotive trade fairs in Los Angeles, Tokyo and Guangzhou
Porsche launches a cornucopia of new products to see out the year.

The German automaker has released a video of the vehicle's raucous exhaust note. In short, the Macan will sport a far racier soundtrack than most of its competitors.
