So, please let me decide whether I should go for Nissan Rogue or consider some other crossovers like Rav4/CRV etc.
What could be the maintenance costs and spare parts availability of owning a Rogue? Any particular things to look out for when buying a pre owned one?

No sedans for me please.

I plan to purchase a SV AWD variant. Used 2018-2020 model.
They tend to be high on the maintenance compared to RAV4's & CRV's. HVAC system is another thing to look out for in addition to the transmission. Parts availability is not a concern.

Re: Buying, Owning, Driving and Maintaining a car in North America

I had a near miss experience last weekend.

Me and my family were driving out of a shopping complex after watching a movie, around 8PM. Before we reach the main road, there is an intersection where cross traffic has a stop sign. As I am quarter of a way through the intersection, I catch an SUV from the corner of my eye blow through the stop sign on my right. I slam on my brakes to see the SUV go past the front of my car, reach the other side and collide with a car coming from the opposite direction. Had I not braked, the SUV would have hit me!

As the SUV went past me, I noticed that the driver looked a bit dazed, out of it. Of course this was in Massachusetts where weed is legal.

It worries me that there are not enough guidelines and regulations in place to stop people from driving when high on weed. The driving on the roads has become increasingly dangerous over the past few years.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Re: Buying, Owning, Driving and Maintaining a car in North America

A short term assignment has me posted in Florida and I need a car for daily driving as well as occasional weekend drives. Space at the rear isn't a concern, although what is a MAJOR deal-breaker/maker would be safety. My other requirements are as follows :
  • Budget : $ 15000 - $ 20000
  • Body type : anything is fine, honestly
  • Safe, economical and reliable
  • Would prefer it to be relatively new

Any suggestions on reputed dealers or websites I could look at? I would love your inputs on vehicles that would suit my requirements.

Thank you.
