Re: Buying, Owning, Driving and Maintaining a car in North America

We went up to Kettle Moraine State forest in Southern Wisconsin last weekend - day trip. Here are a few pics from the scenic drive area

I was still reeling from having my wisdom tooth pulled out on Thursday last week, but the salubrious weather and nice scenery helped relax quite a bit !

What about Yosemite and other parks around the west coast? No mass leaf falling and color changes?

Yea Yosemite is probably a place but I have noticed its mostly Yellow color here, unlike the east where its an array of colors. And its mostly coniferous trees hardly any maple or oak trees

Not really, I had always liked the MDX, I briefly checked highlander but that's about it and frankly this was somewhat of an impulsive buy. The Accord was running flawlessly, I had no reason to change but was getting an itch to change So thought why not an SUV in the land of SUVs

SantoshPV, I think that has to be made car buying 101 in the US, stick to a couple of models you really want and keep searching

You considered the same two cars I did, and made the other choice . Of course, I was looking at brand new, and you were looking at pre owned, I suppose.

Yeah, I like to have lot of gadgets & fancy technology in the car(my Accord too was fully loaded) & this one had more(Its a Technology + Entertainment Package ) & since my running is very low, pre-owned works great for me. I got 4 year 100k bumper to bumper warranty(Transmission included) (Its at 26k right now)

Btw i did consider a CPO 535xi which was only slightly more & very tempting at the same time but fear of higher maintenance costs, the fact that it would be another sedan(more bang for buck with MDX) & that it lacked the entertainment options that MDX had, also the insurance cost was too high (can you believe it, I am paying less for MDX than I did for Accord )

Re: Buying, Owning, Driving and Maintaining a car in North America

Congrats Technocrat ! Indeed a sweet drive you got there.

Even my insurance cost went down considerably when i bought a loaded brand new Subaru Forester ($8k more) compared to the Accord I previously owned. Its because of the safety that these SUVs offer I suppose.
