Italian carmaker Ferrari showcased its experimental car Laboratorio Technologico 599XX that derives hints from the 599 GTB Foriano. As much as we want to see it to go into production, the chances of it landing in private garages are next to impossible and only a few lucky test drivers will be able to get their hands on this wheels.
A road legal tamer version of the Stallion will be released later this year for the car racing enthusiasts. The new Ferrari will revive the GTO badge which means Gran Turismo Omologato. The GTO badge was first used by the 288 GTO which went into production about twenty five years ago.
A 599 GTO was recently captured by the shutters of automotive spies near the Maranello factory of Ferrari in Italy. The test car was seen in varicolored disguise playing with a combo of blue and black or red and black just like some their previous models.
A photographer even noticed that the white cover of the rear bumper conceals some air vents similar to the original GTO. If the spied Ferrari will be close to its production version, we can say that it is cool enough with the diffuser and black roof.
The lines of the 599 GTO draws hints from the Laboratorio Technologica 599XX but it will not be very extreme.
The V12 6.0L engine is expected to be beefed up to produce 700 horsepower for the Ferrari 599 GTO. The car is also expected to be about 150 pounds lighter plus some aerodynamic elements are expected to be added.
The production of the 599 GTO will be very limited. According to sources, there will only be 500 units produced. The official reveal will be at the Geneva Motor Show.

Just curious - how would you say this looks more like a ferrari than the 599? A few more vents did the trick?
Or is it coz its gift-wrapped? :D (hopefully for me!)

It looks almost exactly like the 599 GTB Fiorano and the GTB has been around for quite sometime now. How is it any different apart from a few vents here and there?

The original GTO was more of a muscle car put out by Ferrari.

This one looks as others have mentioned looks like a 599. That in itself is not such a bad thing, but a "GTO" badge deserves to build on the original.

sorry:, i'm gonna get flamed for this but I haven't felt this before with pics of the 599. The side profile in the 1st pic seems very reminiscent of a Corvette.

Thats actually the way i feel for the Ferrari California. I mean, the fact that it is a California also makes me think that that was not quite unintentional :Frustrati

The Ferrari Corvette...umm..i mean California.

@rehaan, suyaas & jayabusa:
I say that because of the newer models which though they kind of grow on you after a while, to me they dont give me the same awe that the earlier models would. Ive always liked the 599 Fiorano, albiet this is similar, it yet looks like my perception of a Ferrari. Hence "It looks like a Ferrari" :)

Also, im loving those alloys. The star shaped design has always been synonymous to me with a Ferrari.

This looks good and what's the eligibility to own this if they are produced as GTO.As said by other this looks like 599.

first photos leaked source teamspeed website

Those vents on the bonnet are uber-sexy. And so are those oh-so-gorgeous wheels. Graphite? This is going to be amazing!!

The 599 GTO's pricesheet apparently leaked!
