Lambo Gallardo LP570-4 Superveloce and Superleggera

The images you see below are not official shots of the LP570-4 Lamborghini Gallardo Super Veloce. They're good renderings. It's been assumed for months that Lamborghini would unveil a final special edition Gallardo at the Geneva Motor Show this March. The V10 will be tweaked and tuned to put out 570 horsepower through all four wheels And if the folks in Sant'Agata really want to bring the noise, the Gallardo SV will drop the "-4" and go rear-wheel drive like its Valentino Balboni sibling.

The rendering of the upcoming Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera is done by graphic artist Jon Sibal. The Superleggera will shed about 70 kg over its standard variant (if you can ever use the term 'standard' when speaking of a Lamborghini) and will come with an unimpressive 10 hp increase in power. But those missing 70 kilos will likely mark their lack of presence in the performance figures. The Superleggera will do the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in less than 3.5 seconds and will have a power to weight ratio of 2.35. The transmission will be the same gear box as in the LP560.

Going by Lamborghini history, any 'SV' car is the last of the stable. Like the Murcielago LP670 is the last of the Murcielagos and we'll have an all new Murcielago in 2011. So is this the last of the Gallardos and should we expect an all new Gallardo by 2011?

That's a fabulous looker, no doubt. But I don't know about you guys, IMO Lambo's been churning out special editions of their cars so often these days that I can hardly keep track of them. Almost reminiscent of the Fort Escort "Orion" and the hundred other editions of the car they came up with.

They might make the SL now but the SV should take time since the LP560-4 is a relatively recent release.

Nice post TheRagingBull

Somehow, I highly doubt if the Gallardo will be made with an SV badge on it. The Super-Veloce was a tag that Lamborghini used only on their flagship models i.e. since the Miura! I know, that they used to sell only one super car till they launched the 'lardo and there was no such thing as 'Flagship' in their stable! But, my hunch is that they'd keep the SV tag only for their flagships!

Yes, agreed with Suhaas. There really is something that sets apart the SVs. Heck, I used to love the huge, mad, obscene SV logo running down the side circa Diablo era! The essence of Lambos is to blow your mind and other associated bodily parts. I just would not want the baby Lambo to be that crazy, but to be honest, I wouldn't really give a darn. The madder, the better. I want an LP670-4 SV with missiles please.

Lamborghini should increase their portfolio size. Just 2 cars ain't enough to beat Ferrari.

That is what a Lamborghini is all about. Ferrari's are suave, sophisticated, advanced, cutting edge, precision (Okay, I'll stop!) super cars.

Lamborghinis are just mad hatters. As Hammond said in the 13th Season of TG, the Murcielago LP670-4 SV is a snotty little ragamuffin! They are meant to have missiles on it's haunches, they're supposed to have jet engines and the like! And that's why Lamborghinis are loved and still loved!

That's precisely why the 'Estoque' is on the cards my friend! Yes, the Estoque isn't the kind of car that would challenge a Ferrari but lets not forget the presence of Maserati (Ferrari's luxury arm) in the market.

Can't wait for that!

OMG lamborghini are becoming better with their designs by the day . With every new release being better than their previous cars. I already think they make much prettier cars than ferrari and with this 570 i have no doubt about it. NOw what lambo has to do is to make a hypercar which can compete with the enzo in terms of performance. This is what they lack in !
For me the LP670 in baloon white is the best looking car in the world.

Its amazing when i read that lamborghini is releasing its new edition in 2011 or something. And then i wonder what new can it be seeing this. This bull is already generation ahead. Whatelse. I have seen several auto websites who tell the pros and cons of a particular car. And when it comes to cons each website has written " we are still finding some, will let you know when we will find out"

Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera revealed

article from LLN

The Superleggera is back, and it’s faster and lighter than ever before. Debuting at the Geneva Motor Show, the new variant builds upon the new LP570 Gallardo line, which was first introduced in 2008. The car is a successor to the previous Gallardo Superleggera, which was produced in 2007 for less than a year.

Making its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, the two-door coupe weighs 2954 lbs (1340 kg). It’s the fastest Gallardo road car yet, sprinting to 62 mph (100km/h) in just 3.4 seconds on its way to a 202mph (325km/h) top speed.
The supercar has tweaked engine management software to squeeze another 10 horsepower from the standard Gallardo’s direct-injection V10. The 570 horsepower motor also gets a new launch-control mode, with cranks the 90-degree, all-alloy V10 up to 5000 rpm before bursting off the line and capable of hitting 124 mph (200 km/h) in 10.2 seconds. Peak output comes at 8000 rpm, while max torque of 398 pound-feet (540 Nm) arrives at 6500 rpm.
The new Superleggera also runs the six-speed, robotized e-gear transmission as standard. Fuel consumption is down to 17.4 mpg.
Engineers switched the side glass, the rear glass and the engine cover to light-weight polycarbonate, while the rear hood is now carbon-fibre. After recently cementing its carbon-fibre research alliance with the University of Washington’s Advanced Composite Structures Laboratory, the Superleggera also uses carbon-fibre for the rear diffuser, underbody paneling, exterior mirror housings, door sills and the rear spoiler.
Lamborghini says it saved 88 lbs (40 kg) by using carbon instead of plastics or metals, and it made widespread use of it inside the cabin as well, including replacing the standard materials for the centre console cover, the door panels and the seat shells, yet the car still has air conditioning and power windows as standard.
The automaker saved another 28.6 lbs (13 kg) by using forged aluminium, 19-inch alloy wheels and took the theme to extremes with titanium wheel nuts.
The body changes are slight and mainly focused on aerodynamics, including the rear wing (there’s a larger version as an option), the rear diffuser, with four exhaust pipes running through it, and the remodeled front bumper. The new shape pushes more air into the radiators and also gives more down force over the front axle.
A set of super-sticky Pirelli PZero Corsa tires — 235/35 up front and 295/30s at the back — were developed specifically for the Superleggera.
While the standard Superleggera will be stopped by enormous eight-piston calipers and 365mm discs up front (with four-pistons at the back), there will be a lightweight, carbon-ceramic option with six-piston front calipers as well.
